AZ out of Uefa Cup in extra-time injury time...

2nd Dutch team in one week's time that gets knocked out of the championship by a stupid injury-time goal, despite being the better team, and because of that dumb-ass away-goal advantage rule...

Tonight AZ lost against Lissabon...good thrilling game, nice AZ goals, not all that spectacular, although Jaliens volley was pretty good...

Such a bitter, sour, sad week for dutch football, and for football in general, since in all 3 matches this week, the better playing, and attacking team, lost and were knocked out.

CSKA Moskou won 3-0 tonight btw, but will probably be banned from the final anyway, since the opponent's goally was hit on the head by a flare from the crows, and couldnt finish the game...

So... all in all a very bad week to be a football fan... (If you like attacking football that is... )

Yeah, but since CSKA will probably get banned from the final, so it will probably be Parma vs Lissabon...

CSKA will play in the final because the match was not stopped. So UEFA cannot ban them from the final. They can make them play in front of empty stadium for a few games though...

I just mentioned it in my first post (which is right above YOUR first post... really not all that hard to miss, but guess u missed it anyway )

Parma Goallie was hit on the head by foreworks from the crowds... so if the UEFA is consisten (which it usually isnt), they could throw CSKA out of the tournament, meaning Parma goes through to the final...

i want to see him play in the final.
I was just thinking about Cavenaghi a few days ago. I remembered how hyped he was and then he suddenly vanished. Certainly, he is someone to keep an eye.
Other guy you should pay attention: Daniel Carvalho, good and young brasilian OH. Almost nobody knows about him in Europe but he can make a name for himself in this final.

EDIT: what happened to mussav post ?!?

It's a stupid rule, unfair on the team playing at home in the second leg.

The team playing away in the first leg gets 90 minutes to score an away goal, the team playing away in the second leg gets a maximum of 120 minutes to score an away goal.

Not fair.

i was dissapointed to see parma go out especially they way they went out getting hammered 3-0 i suppose they rested players for their relegation scrap

I was hoping for a AZ vs parma final, but i think Sporting will win the cup but it won't be easy as CSKA are a good team

Agreed

Away goals shouldn't count after ninety minutes, it would be alot fairer on the team playing at home in the first leg, if this rule was used last night then the tie would have went to penalties.

More reason to be upset by the defeat: there isnt any injury time ALLOWED in extra-time, according to fifa or uefa or whatever rules! It should have been 15 minutes STRICT! So AZ should have gone through!

Way to go, cheating the best team out of the championship because the referee, and 99% of most people, including myself, didnt know about this rule... But apperently it's a rule there is no injury-time allowed in the extra-time... so AZ should have gone through.

edit: Law 10 - Method of Scoring: Very applicable to playoffs and Cup Qualifiers With regard to the method for determining the winner of a match, the IFAB ruled in favour of extra-time, consisting of two periods of no more than 15 minutes each, followed by kicks from the penalty mark. As a result, matches will no longer be decided by "golden goal" or "silver goal".

All of the changes to the Laws of the Game shall come into force worldwide on 1 July 2004.
