Scoring penalties without trying

After playing WE7 day in day out, came to realize that WE7 is just not perfect after all. Really have no grouse over the training challenge, it is tough by any standards. But my real concern is the PK Challenge. Want to know how to beat the keeper most of the time without really trying. You do not need any power gauge, just press the square button. You will see the keeper diving left or right. Very seldom, will the keeper remain stationary. By pressing square, your player will hit a direct shot. If the keeper moves, then it will be a Goal. Have done some calculation and observe that the probability of the keeper remaining stationary is about
10%. Meaning if you hit 10 shots by merely pressing the square button, the keeper will only save once ignoring the remote possibility of your player hitting his shot above the bar. It does happen but very slim where a player shot will go above the crossbar by merely pressing the square button.

By knowing this trick, it have given us an unfair advantage especially during knockout tournaments where we merely have to play for a draw. During penalty kicks, we will win most of the time by applying the above technique.

For future WE release, it would be better if the keeper remains stationary for 2 out of 5 kicks. Meaning if during the 5 penalties
shoot out, we will be left guessing on which two occasion will the keeper remain stationary. That would prevent us from using the square button most of the time.

What do you think?

It's more successful if you hold down Down while shooting in the centre so there is no chance of it going over the bar.
I agree that the system for PKs need a big change.

Isn't this true to life though, How many times do you see a keeper stay stationary during PKs? I think Big Ron Atkinson was a believer in always hitting the ball in the middle of the goal as the keeper always dives.

Hopefully the AI will be sorted out soon, and say if you put your last 3 PK's straight down the middle then the system recognises this and remains stationary.

Also, ive noticed the following...

If in a pen shoot out with the computer....

If they go right 1st, they will then go left, then the middle, then right etc.

What would you suggest to implement a big change though? Power bars? :o

I think 2 out of 5 times where the keeper stays on his feet in the centre is far too high. It is unrealistic as Swisst insists

It's a minor problem that Konami are going to have to address, though.

I think the previous suggestion is a really clever one - power bars. And although these don't have an effect on diving left or right, they could improve penalties.

For the diving problem, I think the ISS98 approach was one Konami should take up again. You could make the cursor invisible, but still move it (in invisible form) to some part of the goal, and not just either top or bottom, left, right or centre. Goalkeepers could maybe be able to have a cursor like this too.

Although being quite honest, this is one of the more difficult things needed sorting out, and I don't think it's something they'll sort out any time soon. Too complex.
