Pro Evolution Soccer 6 (PS3/Xbox 360)

PES creator gives us the exclusive on the next-gen PES

Changes

"We already have some 'to do' lists for PES6, but not as much as had in the past. It becomes harder and harder to improve the next one. What we will say is that we'll watch football matches for trends in the way games are played and incorporate that into the game."

Gameplay

"We'll never get to the point where we can't expand, just in terms of tweaking the AI. From next year onwards, everyone will be looking at next-gen platforms, meaning there will be more goals. We have so many places to improve and explore."

Graphics

"Yes, naturally we're chasing that aspect as well. The new hardware will allow us to further enhance the graphics in terms of stadiums and lighting. We've got to the point where PS2 xan no longer improve the graphics. The PS3 will allow us to move to a new, bigger house. On the other hand, I still haven't accomplished everything with AI. The system for players receiving the pass is still not right."

Online updates for licences/teams/stats

"Techhnically we could do this, but other reasons like licence agreements with the clubs make it difficult. Our goal is that the players can play with the newest player information and stats. We're trying to improve the European licencing for PS3."

PSP and PS3

"PS3 will have a memory stick, so we'll see a better relationship between the hardware and software. We're thinking about a version of PES that concentrates on Edit mode, so you'll be able to do all your editing on PSP and bring it back to PS3."

PES6 at PS3 launch

"It could be tough. It depends on when Sony is planning to release the machine."

The interview is from Official PlayStation 2 Magazine. The images are to give an idea of what PES6 will look like.

-I'd like to see a better penalty-kick system, as right now it's very weak...
-People who have played Pro Evo 5 says the ref is too strict resulting in too many fouls and free-kicks... although supposedly it has to do with your timing and all, so I'm not sure how big a problem it is...
-Free kicks seems to have become easier in Pro Evo 5, which is a shame cause itw as a good system in Pro Evo 4.
-Don't know if Pro Evo 5 fixed the own-goal problem, but in 4 it was very annoying. Too many own goals because of balls bouncing of chins or backs or whatever...
-Make it a bit easier to save your online team, and load your on-line team. Now I have to first start a exhibition-match, then load my settings, then exit, and only then can I go online...

Those images are not an idea of what PES6 will look like at all.

They are just FMV sequences from WE8/9 or PES5 or whatever

The images are close (if slighty better) to the quality of FIFA on Xbox 360. So it's safe to asume that the graphical quality of next-gen PES will be close to those images.

lol.. those images are taken from pes4...

I personally think they will be better than that, especially when you look at some of the other games that are coming out for Playstation 3 such as Fight Night Round 3?

if really there's ever a way to improve on the graphic beyond the above... it looks like i may cancel my ESPN subscription soon... from the way Playstation makers boast abt how powerful the new consoles are... i really hope to get a shock when we see them unveil....

Tracksuit bottoms available for keepers.

Rolled up sleeves.

Set up set piece routines such as which players come up for corners and which stay back.

Eartape as an option.

Coloured gloves.

Choice of ankle socks over the football socks.

A choice of collar up/ down.

Editable goalie gloves.

3rd and Euro kits.

A vice captain and second choice for dead balls? (it's annoying when the opposition sub their captain or dead ball taker and the job goes to somebody completely innapropriate)

Autumn and Spring as seasons. There should be short sleeve weather, long sleeve weather AND glove weather.

Editable refs.

Stadium creator and editor.

Editable managers on the touchline.

Ball editor & creator.

Better commentary and crowds (the excitement level of the fans should raise when the ball gets nearer to goal and for set pieces).

The option to edit the licenced teams.

Those I totally agree with, especially the set piece idea. Thought the same myself. I get annoyed when a tall centre back stays at the back for a corner and some midget full back goes up instead. If they don't incorparate that, at least have a system where by if a centre back is over a certain height, he'll automatically go up for a set piece.

Agree with the vice captain idea too. I get slightly niggled by seeing a sub who comes on for the captain already wearing the armband. It should show a little animation of the captain giving the armband to the vice captain and then it appears changed.

I think one way the series can improve is if they make the tactical side deeper. I'm thinking Football Manager depth here. Allow the player access to each individual player letting you control everything about his game from his attacking runs to whether he takes a long throw or not. One for the hardcore PES players there!

Risk / frustration button - Certain players can be given a star as to whether they will removing shirt, winding up oposition fans or jump into the crowd after scoring (eg Rooney would be given a wind up star) and abusing officials when penalised (Rooney would have and abuse official star) Their 'unsportsmanlike' celebration would be activated with the risk button (R3) if pressed in between the goal being scored and the celebration scene (or fouls being made and booking / freekick taking).

Last resort button (also R3) - This would be the same as the Risk button but used in open play. Stars for violence (kicking and elbowing), professional fouls (shirt pulling, tripping from behing or handballing depending on the context), and Diving would be available. (Totti could have a diving star, Terry a cynical challenge star, and Todd a violence star).

Dusk added to Day and Night option. The sky would start as daylight and progress to darkness by full time. This would apply in most English winter matches.

No classic players in the master league (such as Maradona)

Rivalrys - On club / national team editor there would be a section to choose up to 5 players that would be booed by the oposition fans. You could also select up to 5 rival teams where the atmosphere would be derby like and more tackles in the game.

Tatoos on player editor.

The chance to create national teams.

Every national team (yes even the whipping boys). Proper qualifying groups for the 'Intenational Cup'.
