Eydelie says Marseille players injected before 1993 European Cup Final
We all knew they cheated in the French league.

Some of us suspected they cheated in the European Cup too. Is this a step towards proof or was he misquoted?

PARIS, Jan 21 (Reuters) - Former Olympique Marseille player Jean-Jacques Eydelie says he and several of his team mates received an injection before the 1993 Champions League final against AC Milan.

"Before the final, we were asked to stand in a line in order to receive an injection," Eydelie was quoted as saying by French sports weekly L'Equipe Magazine.

"(Former German international) Rudi Voeller was the only one to kick up a fuss. He went on yelling at everyone in the changing room, speaking in his mother language," Eydelie said.

Marseille beat Milan 1-0 to become the first French club to lift Europe's top club trophy.

Eydelie did not provide any details about the substance injected into the players but said he felt physically weird during the match.

"I had a dry mouth during the game. My body didn't react like it used to. I didn't know what it was supposed to do to me.

"Actually the stuff inhibited me more than anything else. It was the first and last time I agreed to take something," he said.

Midfielder Eydelie, who is now out of a job, was also involved in the Valenciennes-Marseille match-fixing scandal which rocked French soccer in May 1993.

Eydelie confessed he secretly gave money to the wife of the Valenciennes player Christophe Robert in an attempt to fix a league match.

Marseille beat Valenciennes 1-0 away and clinched their fifth consecutive title.

After the bribery was revealed by Valenciennes player Jacques Glassmann, Marseille were stripped of their title and demoted to the second division.

I hate the fucking wankers. We would have easily reached the Champions League final that season. They fixed matches, bribed players and took drugs. I can't believe they didn't replay the Champions League final with Rangers and AC Milan after they found out what Marseille really did. That last match, where we had to draw with CSKA Moscow and they were fucking cheating in Brussels.

I've always hated them since then. At least Voller was making a song and dance about it - if this report is to be believed. Good on him.

I still remember that game, that Basile Boli header. I remember when they were awarded the corner thinking "we have to be careful here". When they scored I felt sick. Bastards

Although I do remember that in our semi-final with Monaco (1994), Klinsmann dived (when didn't he?) and got Baresi sent off and suspended for the final. Loved beating them 3-0 with ten men.

It took me months to get over that Marseille game.
