Angels and Demons
Intresting film, I love the whole consipracy thing involved with religion and the Illuminati/Masons etc, but having read about the ending on wikipedia it seems that the film almost completely changed the way they delivered it. |

The Expendables - Eric Roberts and David Zayas were great choices for the bad guys and Stallone formed a great duo for the good guys. Dolph Lundgren was alright but Jet Li was pretty shit; he didn't really fit in too well. Also, Steve Austin's character had very little to him; they may as well have hired any old muscular goon for his role, which reminded me of Triple H in Blade: Trinity.
Some of the fight scenes were were pretty good with decent gore effects and the soundtrack was ok, although the song at the end was incredibly corny. Overall I don't think it'll go down as a classic action movie but it wasn't bad. |

Public Enemy - A classic Asian thriller, probably as good as the likes of Infernal Affairs and Hard Boiled. It's the type of story that you could see being made as a full-on comedy but it works just as well as a more serious movie. The basic premise is an incompetent, rough-looking cop stumbles across clues relating to a murder investigation. Unfortunately for the cop, the suspect happens to be a wealthy, respected man who is also the son of the old couple who were killed so he has a hard job convincing people who the murderer is. The acting is very good, the pacing works well and keeps it interesting and there are some great scenes with the cop kicking ass. Loved the headbutt aimed at the guy with the chainsaw and the scene where he takes on a load of bad guys as a traffic cop.

![]() I just love no matter how gritty it gets a moment of almost slapstick comedy stops the film from getting excessively dark. Its balanced perfectly though without losing direction. |

Death Race - Was on TV the other day, I enjoyed it far more than I should have done. Reminded me of a mix of The Condemned and Twisted Metal (I realise the original Death Race 2000 came out way before these two). Natalie Martinez is a major hottie.

Up in the Air - A very good movie. It seemed like a film that was made with the specific actors/actresses in mind as Clooney, Kendrick and Farmiga were perfect for their respective roles. The music was pretty good too.

I'm not a huge fan of Will Ferrell but Anchorman is excellent.

My Cousin Vinny - I like a good courtroom movie and this was certainly that. It's more of a Liar Liar type in style than for example Runaway Jury but that's not necessarily a negative. The set-up to the story was a bit ridiculous but if you look past that it is an entertaining movie with some good turns from Joe Pesci and Marisa Tomei. Tomei's character reminded me a bit of Rosie Perez in White Men Can't Jump.
