Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows
Pretty much everything you'd expect from a Ritchie movie - excessive slow motion, daft one liners and a wise cracking protagonist - but unlike previous efforts, a bloody good film to boot. Jared Harris who is so typecast as a villain it is beyond a joke was the standout performance for me, as well as, surprisingly Jude Law. An actor I can't normally abide yet in these films he really does compliment Downey Junior very well. Hopeful of a 3rd and final film to wrap it all up. |

Super 8 - Didn't really know much about this, was expecting something closer to an Enid Blighton remake rather than a reference to film format. What we get though is pretty much a mixture of the two. Not a bad film by all accounts, passable with some interesting moments as well as some unintentionally amusing ones.

Rear Window - Hitchcock film about a photographer who while housebound with a broken leg, takes to watching the neighbours goings on, only to begin to suspect that something more sinister is happening. Grace Kelly steals the show though. Just stunning.

Death Proof
Very slow film what's like watching an episode of sex and the city at times, but some great action scenes and manages to keep you watching with the super slow build to the action mainly because of the talent in the film ![]() Not Tarrentino's finest achievement. 7/10 Pet Cemetery A bit crap, but the women with the messed up spine is creepy as fuck. ![]() 6/10 |

Only when it works! Reception even for Sky is weak up yon.
Film 4 do have some stupendously good films at times though.

I've recorded a shed load in the last week or so, they've hit a rich vein of form when it comes to what they're viewing. Well, aside from Final Destination 3 of course. I still recorded it, Winstead's in it!

Prison on Fire 1 and 2
One was excellent, and two really wasn't far behind at all. Chow Yun Fat gives his best performances in these from what I've seen of him thus far - he's particularly strong in the first. The violent endings of both were high points, though it's a great shame an obviously key act of violence in the second film was cut (pre-cut by the censors subsequent reading informs). I'd love to see an uncut version someday. I found Ringo Lam's City on Fire to be rather perfunctory and surprisingly disappointing after all the type; these films are far better, as good as Full Contact. |

Strange post here but given that its a relatively annonymous forum i feel i can tell you about something we arent telling family.
Well, two nights ago me and my newly pregnant missus started watching the timetravellers wife. Decent film it seemed and i dont mind Eric Bana films anyway but halfway through she got really tired so we stopped it and went to bed. Heres the hard bit. Early the following morning she had a miscarriage at 5 weeks which as you can expect was a bit of an emotional shock. We got through it anyway and last night cuddled up to watch the rest of it with some junk food. Now the first half of the film was lighthearted and nothing serious but it seemed as soon as we put it back on the woman got pregnant then lost the baby which wasn't ideal watching given our situation. She then got pregnant again only to lose it a second time. It felt really personal although obviously it was just a film but talk about inapropriate film choice. |

Jesus fucking Christ I just put down the worst 2 flims I think I've ever sat through.
First up and 2 nights ago I had watched Hunger Games, aside from the concept been done 100 times before, it had the worst cast of actors ever assembled in a single movie. Seriously, what's with all these models getting the leading roles? They have zero character and can't deliver lines for shit. If Hollywood continues this trend God help us all. The icing on the cake is that it's over 2 hours long!!!! WHY????? 4/10 Pure wank. And last night I watched (wait for it) Battleship. Oh Jesus save me. I'm too wound up now to put into words how bad and what exactly is wrong with this picture. Again we got the models in pretending to be actors but that's not the worst thing about it. How's about a 70 year old piece of shit boat defeating a Spaceship that has travelled across the galaxy sound? Far fetched? I shit you not because it gets worst. This space ships from the future which has travelled millions and millions of miles for some reason are restrained to hoping in water once they get here. Yep, the fucking spaceships hop around water and can't fly. -3/10 Worse than Hunger Games

That's what you get for watching a film starring Rihanna.

The Raven
I hoped this would be entertaining and it didn't disappoint. If you enjoyed the recent Wolfman and the Sherlock Holmes films you'll like this. Great performances by John Cusack and Luke Evans, and a good script. Particularly good to hear Cusack utter 'what fine twat'. My only problem was with the epilogue, which felt tacked on. A much better, and more subtle ending would have been:

I've just paused Columbiana to answer a text.
I'm at the opening sequence and I'm sure the music is out of the Hitman game. |

Natural Killers
Another typical Jason Statham film. Guns, cars, fighting, decent looking bird. Good film if you like that sort of thing and don't crave a riveting storyline. Next up, Conan the Barbarian An Arnie classic. Bring it on. |
