notoriousbmc has stepped out of the darkness into slightly less darkness

what have they done to our beautiful game

right, im gona get some shit replies to this post but i cant keep it in any longer!
where do i start?? how about passing, they have ruined the way the game flows by using this new passing engine. for example a pass that should be straight forward turns into a sort of miss kick that travels so slow that the opposition has time to nip in and take possesion, and the comp chooses the most stupid pass for you sometimes in pes5 you passed the ball where you wanted it to go, pes6 has become a lottery.

tackling? omg what the f00k have they done here then? in pes5 the whole idea was to stop people using the x button, in my eyes pes6 is geared up for those that like to keep their finger firmly on x. and also it doesnt matter where you are on the pitch whenever you do tackle the comp (thats if your man decides to react) the ball either rebounds off you straight into touch giving the comp possesion or goes straight to another comp player.

shooting? they have well and truly buggered this. why when you are 4 yards away from goal and you tap the shoot button does the comp decide that you spooned the ball into row z? also i was playing tonight won 5 - 1 and every goal was from 20 yards plus its so easy to score from long range, yet get in close the ball will ether come down with snow on it or its nearer the corner flag??

gameplay? the whole feel of the game has changed the players are so unresponsive you dont feel as though you are in control at any time, feels abit like a philips cdi game really, pre-rendered gameplay. the idea in pes6 is to pass the ball around looking for openings, fair enough. so why does the comp collect the ball and then find the quickest route possible to goal?? also comp strikers sit nicely in front of your defence, collect the ball and have bags of time to decide what to do next. why cant a human player close down the cpu's attacker with 3 defenders?

like i said im gonna get some shit for this post but i dont care konami have systematically taken the best bits from the pes series and replaced them to turn pes6 into a fifa 95 button pressing monster.

i have tried so hard to like this game, as the pes series for me is the best football/sports sim on any format, but the 17.99 price tag is too much i feel for just a glorified add on disk.

feel free to respond i wanna hear your comments please try not to use the words "noob" or "practice" or "shut the f00k up" though cos thats just not constructive is it.

thanks for reading my rant

Some good points you've made there....

I might get slated also for this but here goes.... I bought Fifa 07 when it just came out, at first i didn't like but messed around with the camera angles etc etc... and to be honest i feel more control with the ball than pes6.

i am a PES veteran and it hurts me to say what i just have!

i can see what u mean about the pasing being a lottery. it just doesnt feel like it goes where u want. but the tackling i think is good, and maybe ur off balance when u shoot and sky it happens to me sometimes i think it makes it more realistic. i havent been able to score loads from outside the box!!! u make a couple of valid points tho.

It might not be perfect. I think most aspects have improved. Passing really pissed me off in PES5. Always completely inaccurate. I feel as in PES6, passing is more accurate but like you say, long passes aren't as affective.

Shooting for me has improved but once again like you said. When I am in the box, it always goes straight to the keeper or over the bar. But running diagonally away from goal and you press shoot. In PES5 your player is more than likely to hit this with the outside of his foot which gives it less chance for the shot to be on target. Now in PES6, your player tries to curl the ball into the far corner.

If I am being honest. I enjoy PES6 gameplay a lot more than PES5. While playing PES5, I would be lucky to have a piece of equipment unbroke in my house with all the frustration with the game but I rarely get frustraited playing PES6. I know not everyone can agree with me but I think PES6 is a massive improvement from PES5. PES5 was a bit of a downfall from PES4 but the new one is great. I think I have used "PES" too many times in my post. :S

'What have they done to our beautiful game'

They havent done anything, the players recently have ruined it themselves with the play acting and bitching. I think Konami have done a good job with PES6 and I dont really have nout to say about it. It my not be perfect, the game today is far from it, but Im glad were past PES5 and Im glad that Konami are set to make more, otherwise we'd be stuck with FIFA.

If you dont like the game then Its because youre useless.

i was hoping for a little enlightenment from other members into why they feel pes6 is improved,
to say that i and many others that feel the same way are "useless" isnt constructive at all is it? i have merely raised points that i feel are valid, if someone can shed some light as to why pes6 is better than pes5 then i will be pleased to reply in a civilised manner.
i am after all a pes fan and although i havent been a member of this sight for as long as some, i have owned every pes title and played them to death. pes5 for me is the difinitive football game, i know it was frustrating at times, i myself have gone through 2 ps2 pads playing the game and punched my monitor on countless occasions but i still felt in control of the game at all times.
pes6 is a great game and would be the benchmark for football games to aspire to if it wasnt for the fact that we were blessed with pes5 12 months previous.

Trust me im not slagging the game off for the sake of it, i pre ordered pes6 and have played it relentlessly (to the obvious horror of the mrs) in the hope i will get to grips with the new control system. but alas this still hasnt happened. ive even sat through the dvd, hoping that would help.

im sorry if some of you dont feel the same and i can appreciate the fact you feel the need to defend the title out of loyalty. but pound for pound pes5 outranks pes6.

saying that though the new animations are great.

I'm not defending the game out of loyalty. I'm defending the game because I truely enjoy playing it.

@notoriousbmc

I TOTTALY agree with you on all your points, I couldnt have said it better.
I think PES6 is a huge improvement from PES5 but its still not good enough cause PES5 was rock bottom & worse than FIFA06 so it would take another year to reach the normal level of PES games.

SHOOTING, PASSING, CPU CHEATS, YOUR CPU PLAYERS, THE STIFF & SLOW PLAYERS ITS ALL FRUSTRATING & PURE CRAP. IN PES it seems you need fast players to have a good game, Realistic!? my arse!?

After 10 Years with KONAMI PES/WE Im heartbroken to say the I enjoy playing FIFA07 more than PES6. But I still have my PES4 which for being a 3 year old game still more enjoyable than PES5 & 6.
