No i like Vera but the scene for the LHW and HW are in a really good shape atm. Its better for him to go to strikeforce or Dream. A fight with either Schaub in HW or Davis in LHW would be a good if not generous way for him to see how he can go for the future.
Gutted for Hardy too..thats 3 straight, if Dana didnt like him so much hed be swiftly moved to the prelim card or even dropped

im freaking stoked for UFC 129: Shields v St Pierre.
This is the fight the welterweight world has been waiting for. Jake Shields is by no means the underdog, the dude is riding a bigger win streak than Georges and has the right tools to stop the Canadian. A top of the food chain BJJ black belt, St Pierre imo will have to try and win the fight standing up or very carefully take it to the ground for G&P or points for takedown. All the big dogs in GSP's corner are pretty concern/deadly serious about this matchup Danaher and Jackson expressively stated that this is GSPs hardest test in the UFC. The only way i see a GSP win is either by points or a KO, the latter Georges hasn't been able to do. I would love it if somewhere during the fight GSP dishes out the side kick he learnt from Joe Rogan, be it spinning or not. Predictions?? Shields - St Pierre...just a hopeful bet Aldo - Hominick: too many weapons Matyushenko - Brilz - Jones was a significant road bump but i think hes has it Couture - Machida: Lyoto will way to elusive for Randy to effectively take him down or use his dirty boxing Bocek - Henderson (Ben):

GSP is such a different breed of a fighter. He hasnt fought anyone like Shields but Shields in no way has ever fought anyone like GSP. I'm strangely confident that if Shields takes it to the ground, GSP will be confident in his own ground game. He's always trying to show a different side to his skills.
GSP vs Shields Aldo vs Hominick Matyushenko vs Brilz Couture vs Machida Boceck vs Henderson |

well its not like Georges haven't faced a top notch BJJ artist, i fondly remember Vaselinegate in which he pretty much manhandled BJ Penn.

Yeah true. The BJ fights were just more about him beating someone who was regarded as the best there was to offer at the time and he beat BJ twice. GSP want's the satisfaction of being able to beat the guy who is regarded as the best BJJ practitioner in MMA. He's beaten world class wrestlers at their own thing, this is next. You have to think that beating a guy who is top ranked in striking is next, that obviously is Anderson Silva.

I always though that Demian Maia was the best BJJ artist in the MMA game but yeah im quietly confident that Georges is no scrub on the ground and that even though it'll be a dangerous place for him to go, hes good enough to not do dumb shit. He is as stated by most really where brawn meets brain.

Because the show ran over my Sky Plus recording cut off just before the start of round three of the last fight, but it seems I was mercifully spared a borefest.
Fair play Randy. Old man Couture brutally killed but it's better he went out like that rather than after that joke win over Toney. I should also say that that Canadian guy took a horrendous beating, and had possibly the foulest lump on his head I've ever seen. |

Hominick was a warrior, he was easily the man of the moment in Toronto besides GSP beating Shields. I say give him at least another no.1 contender fight for his efforts.
It was a good time for Randy to go and I really wasnt shocked to see that kick again in the octagon. Post Belfort/Silva, Seagal mentioned he has been showing Anderson and Machida that particular technique and when our boy Steve was holding Machida's shirt at the weigh in I was confident we'd see it again soon (esp considering Machida is a Karate champion) Had lyoto not bust that front kick out, you guys should see Makdessi's knockout...flush would of won KOTN in any other card

He was at Lyotos weigh in. A spot usually filled by trainers/corner men/managers.

Yeah I just checked it again. I'm amazed I missed his bulbous frame to be quite honest.

Just a fucking sick kick man. Sad to see Randy finally go, but it's the right time, fighting someone who in my opinion is the second best LHW to Jon Jones. Gameplan was going on fine for Randy up until the kick. It's like the kick version of the superman punch, just much, much more deadlier.
Hominick's entrance was the best i've ever seen in the UFC, beating Jones one in the last event. The music, the occasion...moving stuff. |

Rory Mac is one promising fighter, his loss to condit was just unfortunate dominated first two rounds and then Condit decided to trade and eventually finished him off. Seeing him beat Diaz in such a way made me very happy (i hate the Diaz brothers) he's one to look out for in the future, a definite contender for the Welterweight title.
That Hematoma on Hominicks head is just gruesome, also apparently Georges couldnt see out of his left eye and Shields is more awkward than a penguin on a catwalk.
