Rangers sign Darcheville

Quote:
Rangers have beaten off top French clubs to capture one of the best Bosmans in the European market Jean-Claude Darcheville on a two-year contract.

Chief Executive Martin Bain has clinched the deal which will see Darcheville sign up in the summer when his contract with Bordeaux ends.

And manager Walter Smith is thrilled to have captured the lightning fast forward, who earned the nickname of "The Rocket" in French football.

Darcheville, 31, has been a top player for Bordeaux this season and they were keen for him to extend his stay for a further two years.

It us understood that rivals Monaco were also in the market to utilise the striking talents of the Frenchman, who was born in Guyana.

However, Rangers have beaten them both off to sign up Darcheville for the new campaign.

Ironically, it was Paul Le Guen who helped Darcheville break into the French scene when he was manager of Rennes.
Please don't tell me he is the replacement for Prso

To be honest, as long as we pull out all the stops to sign Alan Smith, I'm happy, no matter who we sign.

Rangers will never-ever sign Alan Smith, if we did though, I'd be extremely happy.

Do expect someone to post up that picture of Smith in a Rangers top and saying how he has always been a fan.

I remember that, the papers had an absolute field day, turned out he was on holiday and it's the only time he's wore a Rangers top. It was the same with Robbie Fowler, he played in a testimonial game at Ibrox and the next day he and his wife had bought a house in Glasgow. The press crack me up sometimes.
