Lack of Bottle~!
On Paper both the Dutch and the Spanish always tend to have pretty quality sides. As each tournament begins expectations are always high and at the beginning there always tends to be a good amount of confidance coming from each camp. That begs the question ''Why do these teams always fail and never reach the final hurdle?'' I mean is the Netharlands crowning success Euro 88 or will they go on to achive something greater.
In your opinion what is the reason why these teams fail to win anything major. Does their bottle crash or is it just in terms of quality and squad depth. |

A lot of problem with Holland over the years as there always seems to be some sort of internal issues with members of the squad, Van Nistelrooy being the latest example of this.

Spain as a country is quite devided. Many people could careless when Spain play. Mainly people from Catalonia and the Basque Country.

Its very difficult to win a major tournament, its acceptable to get knocked out in a semi-final or quarter-final as long as your team has played well.
In the past ten the Dutch have been quite good tbh. Semi-Finalists 1998, 2004 and 2004 is not bad especially when you consider the quality of football played by them. They are a big football nation and consitantly produce good teams although they currently have one of the worst teams they have ever had. Basically its unfair to say they lack bottle. The Spanish on the other hand like the English do underperform. They do lack bottle although they have crop of players who in the next few years could seriously challenge for a mojor honour. |
