I think winning the home games with Georgia, Montenegro and Bulgaria is a must. Draws against Bulgaria and Cyprus away, a draw against Italy at home, and the inevitable loss away to Italy would probably be enough to earn a play-off place.

Just like when Capello took over England, you just knew Trapattoni would improve the team. I fancy them over Bulgaria, who are drawing too many games, to get a play-off spot. Italy won't find them easy but they'll just be a bit too strong.

I dunno about that, we have a nice little team shaping up but Stevie Ireland would transform our entire midfield.

What are thoughts on young Whelan over there? I'm a big fan and expect him to progress above and beyond our station. Very impressive midfielder who I'll stick my head on the line to say will be playing regular, high-standard Premiership football in the next three years.

Whelan is playing solid for us but if he has what it takes to be truly world class and hold down that place is another issue, but for now the kids doing ok.

As for what happened to Stephen Ireland?, well I heard a rumor that head was getting stick in the dressing room about his hair, I think the fella was getting treatment to try and save it and the lads started taking the piss out of him. Lets be real though, if that was the case it's handbags.

Indeed if that's the case then they should try mend things because from what I've seen of Stephen Ireland I think he could go on to become an important player for both club and country.

He's gifted and easily Man Citys best player this season. We just can't afford to not have players of that caliber in the team.
