Best film/Best performance.
I did this before over at OWF but I feel it could take off better here. Basically I will list 5 actors and all you have to do is write next to them the best film they've been in and next to that their best performance. Be interesting to see how many match. So the first five actors will be left for people to do over a week or until it looks like everybody has had a go and then somebody else can post up 5 actors and we can do the same again. However please don't post up another 5 actors instantly give it a few days so we get a broad spectrum if results. OK firstly I will offer up these 5 greats:
Robert De Niro Al Pacino Tom Hanks Jack Nicholson Christian Bale Here is my opinion- Robert De Niro: Godfather II / Raging Bull Al Pacino: Godfather II / Gofather II Tom Hanks: Toy Story / Philadelphia Jack Nicholson: One flew over the Cuckoos nest / OFOTCN Christian Bale: Dark Knight / American Psycho

Robert De Niro: Casino / Godfather Part II Al Pacino: Carlitos Way / Godfather Part II Tom Hanks: The Green Mile / Road to Perdition Jack Nicholson: Shining / Batman Christian Bale: Dark Knight / The Prestige Is this thread purely for listings, or discussion on said listings as well?

Robert De Niro: Godfather Pt. II/ Raging Bull
He was fantastic in Raging Bull and it was an excellent piece of celluloid, but it's unlucky it has to face the Godfather II. Al Pacino: The Godfather / The Godfather Easy, though I love Carlito's Way and it could've gone to the Godfather sequel too. Tom Hanks: Toy Story II / Saving Private Ryan Close with The Green Mile, incidentally my mother's favourite of all-time. I had to check IMDB for this, all I could think of initally were SPRyan and Turner & Hooch ![]() Jack Nicholson: The Shining / Chinatown I really wanted to put the Departed in there but I just can't. Christian Bale: The Dark Knight / The Prestige

De Niro - Godfather II/
Al Pacino - Godfather/ Carlito's Way Tom Hanks - Road to Perdition/ Philadelphia Jack Nicholson - The Departed/ One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest Christian Bale - The Dark Knight/ The Machinist I want to think about De Niro's best performance and come back to it. And choosing between the Green Mile and Road to Perdition was very difficult. To be honest I don't really see how Christian Bale fits in with these, he hasn't been in enough, and doesn't have the same sort of credentials, and I don't think he's as good an actor personally. Daniel Day-Lewis would have been a better choice. |

Agreed. Very underrated by the general public. Although to be fair he doesn't whore himself around as much as Bale, I mean that in a nice way because I'm a huge fan of Bale too, so many people may not have even heard of him.

I agree about Daniel Day-Lewis being a better actor, but the fact that he only works every European Chamionships doesn't help his noteriety amongst the mass public. Picking a best performance would be tough.
