Some lovely ones there Cookie. A couple of questions for you, Are any of your images above edited? What camera are you using? What camera do you suggest for beginners?

Im currently using my mums Olympus SP-55OUZ, how does this camera rank? Cheers

Cheers. I'm using a Nikon d5000. I got it for a little over €600. It's an entry level DSLR and I love the quality of the images I get with it.
At quick glance, your camera seems fairly good for what it is. I'm not sure how adjustable the settings are, like adjusting the white balance and aperture and such. You might want to check that yourself.
I see in a lot of your photos a blue tint, this is cause by the white balance not being set correctly. On a cloudy day the images will come out with a cold tone. You must set the camera to give out a warmer tone when shooting in certain conditions.

As for my photos being edited, I edit all my photos that I want to keep. I never keep the settings straight off the camera in most instances. I use Adobe Lightroom, it's a great program, like a little digital dark room. It's got some handy preset efffects, like black and white, or just a colour and contrast boost.

To get that shiny professional look off your photos they almost always need some post-production work as far as I'm concerned, even if it's just a slight contrast boost or colour correction, it can make a world of difference.

If you feel limited by your current camera you might consider upgrading if you have the available funds to d so. Although this photography lark can be expensive, buying different types of lenses and such.
