Exclamation Dear Konami, please read - Commentary

Ok, here it goes I hope others join me and support the cause. I would like to mention LakoLako also has a good commentary thread, with some very good ideas too! http://www.pesgaming.com/showthread.php?t=72199

Dear Konami, please do not take any offence whatsoever, this letter is in the most polite manner, I am just very passionate about Pro. I have been a diehard Pes fanatic ever since I touched Pes2, and have not left the brand ever since. However, a little foray into the world of Fifa (for the first time since Fifa 99!) earlier this August made me a little flabbergasted. The game play was not all that attractive to me. BUT one big feature that was outstanding was the commentary. This got me thinking, Pes with great commentary and its already great gameplay and fun factor would equal a very very high-quality rounded game. I know that there are limitations to how far commentary can go but here are a few points that I feel Konami need to address:

1) Fluidity and Tone - One major drawback of PES's commentary is the fact that it is so obviously scripted and sounds completely un-natural. It sounds plastic, choreographed and laboured. The commentary of Mark Lawrenson and Jon Champion are almost like sleep tablets at times. How about a little banter between the two or some commentary that sounds akin to something that we would actually hear in a real football match on TV. What about having different line ups of commentators for different games like John Motson, Jonathan Pearce.
2) Team Names - I also feel that if the teams that are licensed had the ability for their names to be actually said, would make a world of difference. 'They scored' is the same line we hear time and time again. How about Liverpoooooooooool, Torrrrres, Gerrrrrrrrrrard, what a beauty lol
3) Personal information - Such as players reputation for goals, fouls, strong tackles, penalty saves, red cards etc could be mentioned. You know how in real life there is a slight break from actually talking about the match and the commentators talk about players, the manager, the boardroom, the teams form, stadium and fans etc.

Conclusion - I think and hope that I am speaking for the majority of PES fans when I say that a little fluidity, banter and a great deal of depth in areas mentioned above would help improve the PES brand a great deal. Because quite franly the current crop of John Champion and Martin Lawrenson is noot competing at all with Andy Gray & Martin Tyler.
Thanks.

Ps I read that by law PES can only have 2 Licensed EPL teams. Why is that????
----------------------------------------------------------------------
1. How long have you been playing PES? I have been playing PES since PES2 on PS2, but have also been playing ISS from Nintendo 64!
2. What are the aspects that you like most about PES? Nothing compares to Pro it may have lost a little popularity in recent years, but nothing can compare to the sheer 'fun factor' that Pro has
3. What are the aspects that you don’t like about PES? Commentary, Eto 'o and Mes si (Pes 09)

Moshstar has stepped out of the darkness into slightly less darkness

I think this is the crowd chanting its one major part of the game (as well as licencing) is what Konami were supposed to be changing? The whole point of liasing with the Forum on here & other sites to improve the game seems to me to have been a PR propoganda exercise. I do like the new version (better now I've used Liam's option file) however first impressions are its 2008 painted up a little further tho better tactically. I'm all for leaving good parts of the game in, the tried & tested & favoured that keep us all playing but I feel robbed at the pathetic commentry still being used from the previous version with a few more plastically added quotes, makes me feel outraged! ARE YOU LISTENING KONAMI?????

I agree with everything in that post, well said. FIFA's commentary is one of the things I prefer than PES's

People have been doing that since ISS pro evolution days, the commentary has always been crap, it's part of the game.

I remember always switching to Italian or Spanish commentary on my PS1 ISS Pro Evolution 2 - they were so much more enthusiastic. GOOOOOOOOOOLLLLL!!!
