BAL slow progress

Hey guys, I've recently made a new WF player and decided to make him focus on speed (6), dribble (5) and shooting (3) ...after a few attempts i manage to get a pretty solid player (70 overall; 78 attack, 69 body balance and stamina, 89 speed, 90acc, 89 dribble speed, 73 shot acc, 7 form, A injury, CF position..) needless to say, i was happy enough with the stats to start playing..

I choose the dutch Heracles as my starting club (the only club aside from Lazio who would participate in the europa league) and began my journey.. Seeking to improve the player's attacking skills i focused 6 points on shooting, 5 on dribble and 1 on stamina. I've been playing rather well (7.2 average rating) and after 2 months I currently hold the top scorer title in the league.. However, the stats are improving incredibly slow compared to other Bal profiles I've made in the past! I've skiped the entire season to see how much i would improve with the current training regime and i'm shocked to say that the overall rating has gone up to only 72 while shooting acc. has risen by only 3 points (76)!

..So what i wanna know is, WHY? Is it because WF's designed to be focusing on speed? (if so, that's pretty ridiculous since speed is barely improving anyway) Could it be because i play in a ''lesser'' team? Or is my growth somehow stunned due to my fairly good starting stats?.. Also, does that mean there's basically no way of creating a player similar to CR9 or Messi in turns of stats and abilities? That would also be pretty lame, considering you are playing ''Become a Legend''..

This year you get better starting stats, but they improve much slower. I dont know how accurate it is but in the tips section it says that focusing to much training on one stat can have a detrimental effect on development.

in my 3rd season, I have an overall of 77. every season i rose by 3. so if we do some quick math, by the time I'm 27, Overall should be 100(70 + (3 x 10)) or a close enough figure.

Messi and Cristiano are 98 overall so if I'm correct, You should be better than them after about 10 seasons.

In this years BAL you progress more slowly, its more realistic so you should be peaking the heights of your career/skill at 27/28, so its a bit more realistic.
The reason Speed goes slowly is because if you think logically in real life you can't really train to get much quicker your born with it where as the rest you can train in to get better, unlike passing, shooting and dribbling etc... This is why its slower and improves really slowly even if you use a lot of points in it again its aimed at being realistic. I've gained a couple of points in speed but stopped once it got red.

My character is very similiar to your limphy 6 dribbling 6 speed 2 shooting WF, at the start of my fifth year im 86 overall i started at 72.

yeah, i get all that, but what i want to say is, that i've already played a CMF on pes11 and at early 21 years he's a 90 overall (started as a 68) ..also, i've noticed his stats improving much quicker than they do with this new WF player (including shooting, which doesn't make any sense since WF's still a forward where shooting is a lot more usefull as with a CMF).. Also, i know speed is progressing slowly this year, so i've created this WF with high starting speed just because of that.. i'm not even seeking to improve speed anymore, that's why i'm focusing on shooting and dribbling, and that's why it bothers me that even those stats are improving so slowly..

*also, peaking may occur at 27,28, but the improving process is reduced as the years go by.. so if your overall improves by 3 in the first season, it won't keep improving every season by 3 all the way up to your 10th. At least how i've discovered so far.

Not to mention, messi iz a 98 overall at 22 years of age, so by the time he's 27. his overall is around 105 (in my game atleast) ... it could be the detrimental effect paul2478 has mentioned, though i'm not quite sure how that works yet..

I noticed each position is different i've seen a lot of AMF and SS who start off with really low stats and some CFs starting very high, I was getting the feeling a player developers quicker the better he plays but again its not really been looked into. So for instance going on holiday isn't a true gauge of anything as your not gaining the experience from the matches.

I guess time will tell as people get further into the game and or start new bal's.
