Hi! I love playing ML with default players.
However, in Pes 2011, money is really the issue. I start the season (on world class second division) with only about 2.000.000 E. That's not enough to buy anything, upgrade anything... just pay salaries. I recruited some youth players... and had to sell some of my squad to pay for their salaries... And then sold Palmieri half season. My sponsors pay meager contracts(a total of about 2-3 mil/year with 1.500 Euros bonus per victory at home). I managed to end 7th on the first season. Second season in, no transfer money again. My sponsors ar still the worst and my fans were disappointed cause I lost against teams 12 times better than mine.
It feels like a loosing battle. I have no more players to sell, barely make salaries and my fans are disappointed. Shimizu gets 500.000 in salary, that's about 5 times as most of the others. I still wouldn't sell him though. So, what's the solution here? How do I get better sponsor deals? How do I increase my fan base?

you can get better sponsors by winning cups/leagues.

I can tell you that with the default team + youth players you are capable of winning the D2 league and cup.

The only problem you will face is the low condition due to low rate staff. But it is definitely feasible.

I would not recommend to sell Shimizu and Palmieri. They will become great and their market value will be up in the sky. Wait a bit. Don't buy any new player, but save money to invest in better staff (specially coach and athletic trainer). If possible, invest also in youth team and fan club, because they will give you a good $$ return (medium/long term).

I started a new ML some weeks ago. I created a new team with logo, uniform, etc and chose to start with the default players. Like you, I had almost no money. I managed to win D2 league and cup (on Top Player). I invested in better staff (unfortunately still far from lvl 5). I could sell Gutierrez for a very good money in the middle of season 2 and bought Villalba (he is cheap and develops quickly). My defense has been quite good with Fatecha (GK), El Moubarki (RB), Palmieri (CB), Schimidt (CB) and Ruskin (LB). Probably I won't win the D1 league but I still have some hope.

My suggestion: don't give up!

I only buy players that are speed merchants are make quick turns - diego capel, messi, c. ronaldo, arshavin, Tamada, Elia, Piatti, Krasic and alexis sanchez. Since the rest are too expensive and play for good teams, i dont buy them for my default crystal palace. I bought piatti from almeria and sanchez from udineses

Bought nothing in my newly started ML league, brought up Schwarz, Shimizu, Pelaez and Palmieri, I play a 4-1-2-1-2 formation with a diamond midfield useing Jaric as a DMF.

Jaric is so underrated it's untrue, he might only have an OverAll of 53 in DMF (56 as a CB, his main position) but he can break up attacks well, has decent short pass abilities and it's good at set pieces, plus I scored a rocket with him from a corner that was headed away.
