Synopsis

Location: West Texas
Period: 1870s

In a small settlement that recently discovered a rich seam of gold, the Texan community of gold miners and cowboys became a target for banditry from the notorious Dalton Gang, led by Grat Dalton. Regularly stealing horses and robbing trains the Dalton’s became an unwanted element around town.
The town with no Sheriff or apparent legal system enlisted the services of Allan Pinkerton and his Pinkerton Detective Agency to keep law and order. Paid for in gold, the Pinkertons keep the streets clear of the Daltons ... and any other bandit stepping into town.

Day 1

 Usual 1st day rambling, very little of any consequence being discussed to begin with. I’ve spammed my own thread with talk of old westerns such is how quiet it has been.

 Unlikely the town will lynch someone going on previous games.

 Dale Challenged Hunter to a duel. Dale’s score was 32. Hunter’s was 30.666666. Hunter wins with the lowest score.

 Barn has offered to do a write up. I said he could write them all up if he wanted too. Hasn’t replied. Will take that as a no.

Night 1


 Dale has chosen not to visit the whore. If he is targeted for death tonight he will not be immune.

 The Dalton Gang chose to kill Bammers ... obviously his experience makes him a threat so he’s gone early doors.

 Barndoor is writing up the death.

Day 2

 Minof suspects Hunter, interesting, Hunter is a bandit but hasn’t really acted suspiciously

 Dale has wandered out of town drunk. He cannot be lynched by the town today.

 None of the Dalton Gang are suspected by the town so far.

 No lynching again, the town are still playing it cagey.

Night 2

 Dalton Gang chose TH14 to die

 Papa investigated Billy Minof who is a Texan

 Dale visited the whore. No special ability was awarded

Day 3

 Hunter has robbed the supply stagecoach. The town cannot vote on a lynching today.

 The town is trying to work out what role caused a loss of voting

 Bish is the only player to work to connect Jesse James to a 3rd party role.

 Town activity has picked up. They are trying to ascertain how complex I may have made this one.

 Activity has certainly picked up

 Most activity has seemed to surround Dragonfly’s signature featuring Jesse James. A clever ploy by Hunter to deflect attention away albeit a bit flimsy. Others seem to have readily bought into it. Desperation abounds!

Night 3

 Phatmann is trying an interesting approach, practically suggesting Dragonfly can’t be Jesse James as he read it to mean he could a Dalton. Interesting move if it creates enough doubt.

 Papa investigated Joel. Who is a Texan.

 Daltons select Hunter, but being an odd numbered night Jesse James cannot be killed (Barn was most displeased)

Day 4

 Smudger and Dale have rekindled their love for each other.

 Dragonfly is the likely target purely down to some great misdirection by Hunter over the signature.

 The votes are now coming in for Dragonfly.

 The First Dalton is seemingly getting the chop, fortuitous it may be but a good start for the town to lynch a Dalton and not one of their own.

 Appswah and Bishop are attempting to delfect away from Dragonfly. Muscular Matt seems to be their patsy.

 I’ve removed Chelsea11 from the game, he wasn’t up for it so best to get him out. He was a townie but getting Bammers back makes the loss minimal.

 Appswah voting out of the blue for Matt has proved his undoing

 Appswah bit the bullet.

Night 4

 Daltons have gone for Hunter. Which is probably a considerable mistake, Hunter is Jesse James and was pointing the finger strongly at Dragonfly.

 Dragonfly is bound to be killed during the next day session.

 Papa and Bammers investigated Fick. Not sure why, I presume they are
eliminating possibilities but so far Papa has been way off the money with his choices to investigate. Dragonfly seemed an obvious choice and with the wanted poster he would have guaranteed a Dalton death.

Day 5

 Dragonfly surely is nailed on for death tonight after the Daltons picked off Hunter.

 Joel is dead set on Dragonfly being lynched although somehow Bammers has managed to throw confusion into the mix with talk of a cult. I should step in and say there isn’t a cult but I’ll see how it plays out. Most likely the town will undermine itself again.

 If Dragonfly bites the bullet tonight I suspect attention will switch to Ali, he has been quiet this game and that may appear suspicious to the regular posters.

 Wonder if Papa will actually investigate a Dalton tonight, can’t see him investigating Bishop or Phatmann unless they make a horrific faux pas though.
 Dragonfly has plonked himself right in the firing line voting for Matt just as Appswah did. If it kills him he’ll learn not to make that mistake again next game, all good experience.

 Joel is a very strong player so far, Dale as well, he’s been spot on with his assertions.

 So, Dragonfly hangs. Two lynches and two bandits. Some fine work by the Texans.

 Smudger is suspectful of Ali. Whats the betting the Daltons kill Smudger to make Ali look suspicious?

Night 5

 Dale goes to his whore. She will protect him from investigation. He only has one left.

 Daltons have gone after Bammers again. Poor bastard!

 Pinkertons have investigated Phatmann, good call, Phats is a Dalton, Papa will most likely use his Wanted perk to get Phatmann killed Day 6.

Day 6

 Hunter lost a duel to Dragonfly. He’ll be pissed!

 Dale has wandered out of town drunk, he’s safe for another day

 Bizarre set of circumstances, Dragonfly has PM’d smudger convincing him to vote for Laughin Man, no doubt trying to protect Phatmann. Ingenius as it is I can’t allow that.

 Laughin Man is now immune for two days. I hope this clarifies the position regarding PM’s dead or alive.

 I understand Joel being pissed off, not alot I can do. If Laughin Man was lynched he’d have every right to kick off after the PM Dragonfly-Smudge gate debacle.

 Maybe I could have booted Smudge out for his moment of madness but to be fair it still could have clouded the lynching.

 Game is going to continue by all accounts. Most of the furore has passed. No idea yet if Dale or Joel will return.

 Laughin Man has left, decent gesture too on his part.

Game Paused

 New role for Bammers, he is now Frank James, brother of Jesse James, he will have Hunters abilities barring the stagecoach robbery, Will make him a lame duck otherwise, too obvious.

 TH14 Will be a standard Texan again.

 Note for Day 7, Papa will use his Wanted Poster to get Phatmann straight up for death.

 Looks like Billy Minof has bailed out of the game.

Day 7

 Been quite quiet. The loss of Joel to the game is a bit of a blow

 The wanted poster is up, looks like Phats is going to swing from the rafters tonight

 Dale has oddly unvoted Phatmann and managed to put his foot in it by drawing suspicion to himself. Lucky for him he can’t be killed Day 8 but thats bound to put the heat on him further.

 Phatmann has croaked. Thats 3 in a row for the town. Impressive feat for the town although I suspect the game is limping towards the finishing line now.

 I’ll award a special ability to TH14, the ability will be “The Voteless Invincible”.

Night 7

 Bishop, the remaining Dalton has gone after Bammers again(!) but as an odd numbered night Bammers cannot be killed.

 Papa investigated TheBishop, the remaining Dalton. This will leave Dale and Bammers as the remaining bandits to be killed.

 Buffalo Bill has joined the Pinkertons.

Day 8

 TheBishop was lynched

 Fick joined the Pinkertons

Night 8

 No lynch

Day 9

 Dale has managed to implicate himself. I think he’s lost interest to be fair to him.

 Dale for the chop then.

 Dale dies. Another strong poster out of the game.

 God, this game is limping to its death!

Day 10

 Activity has finally picked up.

 Papa has played a blinder so far, without him I think the game would have been far worse than it became.

 Double lynch in order, seems only fair as the game is finite.

 Got to extend the game, can’t make the 10pm deadline.

 Dundons yet again is a target. Not sure how he manages to be a target even when he is a townie.

 Well it was going to be Ali and Dundons but now Papa has changed his vote to Bammers

 3 way tie. No lynching as it stands and victory for Bammers again

 Fuck me, Billy has rode to the rescue and voted for Bammers and Ali. A Lynching we shall have

 Double fuck me. Matt has had a complete plank moment and UNVOTED Bammers. Talk about own goal. The town had this won!

 Bammers wins again. Bizarre ending to the game.

Fuck me, didn't realise Bish went after Bammers after I'd got lynched. We had some serious bad luck with that odd number thing.

The only thing I would say is that at the end, it got, perhaps, a little too factual - I like it when you put your own opinions/insights/predictions into the write-up.

As I said though, good write-up and I enjoyed reading it.

Conclusion

What started off promisingly just went spectacularly tits up half way through with Smudge gate ... but the really shitter was the lose of the prominent posters.

Hunter being killed off early didn't help but his insistence on pinning the Jesse James angle on Dragonfly was a rod for his own back. Joel and Laughin man departing was a blow, especially Joel, he had been a strong poster in the game.

All in all though, this game limped over the finish line. Not a classic by a long shot.
