My opponent has always more possession than me!

Hello Guys

I am playing PES since many years but i started playing online aroung 1 year ago, when i bought a Xbox with PES 2011. But there is something that f*** me off when i play against online. My opponent has ALWAYS more ball possession than me! I am not a bad player but it sucks. Most games i have more shots on goal than him but in the game he has more the ball. I am really pissed when i play against Brasilians with their shitty laggy connection.

I play mostly counter systems with 4-2-1-3. But i would like to know which settings or systems can make a good shortpass system?

My Team Style is:

Player support on 15
Support range 0
Position Switch 16
Attacking style 5 or 16 i try boths in the halftimes
defensive line 5 or 20
compactness on 20

in the dynamic editor i play mostly ball possession offence and fast counter , in leading i play fast counter and long balls. Maybe i should put my players more together like the barca line up? please help me!

This game is very2 realistic, so if you are playing 4(defenders)-2 (Defensive midfield) - 1(attacking midfield) - 3(fowards), you have less amount of midfielders, so if your opponent has more midfield they could pass around d ball more in the middle of the park where you on the other hand needs to quickly pass the ball to your forwards and they are faced against your opponent's defender so it makes sense if you would have less possession unless you have your backline playing possession football. Because you are playing with 3 forwards, I would advise you to have your attacking/support style to be out wide mode. Hope it helps.

I am not excellent in possession but sometimes I have the ball for 55 to 60 even with top level players. I like your lineup formation and its my favorite.

my advice:
In the midfield, make sure you place each of both defensive midfielder in the right spots. Also, I would suggest that you give them different roles ( CMF and DMF). make the CMF the playmaker for you team especially in your half (when you have the ball try not to press R1 and try to pass the ball to your CMF when you are in your half but when you are in your opponent's half try to pass the ball to you DMF when he is free with no defenders around him). The possession most of the time should be between you defenders and you defensive midfielders.

Attacking style 5 or 16 i try boths in the halftimes-----> if you like to attack from the center and pass in the back of your opponent's defenders then yous 16 or more. if you like to attack from the sides of park make it standard but not 5
defensive line 5 or 20 ----> if you are using offside trap make it 20 otherwise keep it standard
compactness on 20 -----> I like this but does not always work.


When you are trailing, you should try counter attack and all out attack. I like the later.

NOTE: the team style is not the same with each team that you play with. My advice and my suggests was given depends on my style with Olympiques Lyonnais.
If you are facing CR7 or Messi try to make man to man covering to limit the running time with your opponents.
