PES 2011 off ball run bug

You could argue that this game was broken upon release and I wouldn't disagree, but my game literally has just fucked itself.
I was playing BAL for the first time (such a boring mode but whatever), I went in for a challenge with my player and now suddenly he is stalling constantly like he is getting stuck in the ground when I try to move with him.
If he gets the ball he is fine, if he hasn't got the ball (which in BAL is most of the time thanks to the A.I) he is stopping and starting, he wont sprint or anything, WTF is that about??
I thought it was just that match it was bugged out, but nooooo, so I came out of BAL and went into exhibition, started a normal game with random teams, SAME PROBLEM HERE, my whole team is getting stuck when I dont have the ball, defending is impossible.
Basically, I just broke my game by going in for a tackle
So I wrote this cos I'm pissed, but has anyone else come across this bug? cant find nothing on it.
