ban people making homosexual slander
Homosexual attacks are no different than religious or racial attacks. I am sure there are gay people on this site and they don't need to see it any more than any one else should.

Yes, I agree. It's in many cases a brain dysfunction or "error", so it's basically comparable with insulting retards for being retarded...
But I want no restrictions on religious attacks, atheism is a perfectly legal belief too, so if one side gets to talk, the other must be able to respond accordingly. Alternatively there could be a restriction about mentioning religion and beliefs for all, making it a non issue.

You bring up an interesting point, but perhaps not the way you intended Iron.
I was just about to open up a thread in Off-Topic regarding Ricky Gervais's recent Twitter remarks, in which he frequently uses the word 'mong'. It has sent media outlets into frenzy, who are attacking Gervais's character as a result. The thread I'm creating will be about the evolution of the English language. Which I think is somewhat relevant to this particular thread also.

I'm just saying no one should calling somebody a jew b**tard, or a f**in fa**ot, or a ni**er on these boards. It should not be tolerated. A discussion about religious views or sexuality would be expected. Even racial tension is discussion worthy. Posting a Chapelle show joke is not off limits. But the use of terms in an attacking fashion has to stop.
I am particularly dissapointed the way gay insults are hurled and left unpunished. |

If you see something offensive, then simply notify us, and we'll discuss how to handle the situation. There's a ridiculous number of posts being made by members every single day - and that's just in the PES forums. We're not always online when an incident occurs, so the best thing to do, is to either PM a mod or admin about the situation, or use the Report Post function.
As I say, while one or two words are outright offensive in themselves and cause so much controversy they need to be steered clear of - with others I think it depends upon the context in which the words are used, such is the evolution of the English language. If BarnDoor calls me a Disney 'fag' due to me being a Disney Stan, is he using the term 'fag' in a malicious manner to cause offence? Or, quite like 'mong', is the word 'fag' evolving beyond the boundaries of homosexual insults...

It's one of the advantages of PESGaming, as other forums ban swearing completely, and sometimes try to tighten control on the quantity of negativity directed towards the game in question.

Fast forward a few years to around 2001 and myself and barn are in our late years in secondary school just as a film called Lord of The Rings: The Fellowship of The Ring is being released in the cinemas. Now Barn happened to highly anticipate this movie and exceptionally enjoyed it above and beyond that of a normal person and I justly referred to him as "A Lord of The Rings faggot" to both mock the specific area of interest and the person, and I would refer to any conversation or product relating to LOTR as "faggot shit" Since this monumental occasion Barn and I have used these terms to describe an enjoyment of any particular area of interest or hobby, for example I was an anime fag, Barn was a Lord of The Rings fag, I'm a zelda fag, Barn is a DVD fag etc...so really any reasonal hobby that is just taken that little bit further than normal that we feel we can mock each other about. As such, when we refer to Hunter as a "Disney fag" it is because of his love for Disney products and the way he takes it to above normal levels of fandom (buying the film more than once, or rebuying stuff to get a slipcover etc ie "faggot shit") and this is what fag now means in our dictionary, so when I call someone a fag, it is not because I think they take fat pringle can sized cocks up their arses, but more to do with the personal hobbies and how much of a faggot they are about them.

Brief translation of the above ... its something young people say. Older people are far more offensive. All this talk reminds me of a thread that should have been opened ages ago in homage to Viz, the "Up the arse corner" where we post perfectly innocent pictures that look like otherwise.

Never do that to one of my posts again, especially as you bypass the reason behind it and the context in which it is being said

Bunkum.
For older generations (like those prior to mine, before the comments start), Gay meant to be happy and had no sexual connotations, deviant or otherwise. As such, does this not give us the right to alienate and belittle homosexuals for their perversion of the English language irrespective of their preferred bent? This is true. Their odour alone causes much retching.
