yeah try the update but hd ready tv with an hdmi cable is your best bet.

the lack of a hdtv is the problem you need to get one. You'ld also need to get your ps3 online if you haven't already and download the patch.

GTA IV is not a ps3 exclusive.

I could've got a 80gb from China for R2000. (roughly £150) but it would have been ntsc format for the DVD and ps2 games, also I would have been pretty screwed if anything were to go wrong with it. A friend of mine did go for it though and he seems content.
