I have found this product (looks like a jazzed up max drive), and in the description it says...

"Using the bundled MAX Media Creator software for PC, you can now burn a CD-R that will function on any standard PlayStation 2 console - no need to invalidate your console's warranty by tinkering with the hardware. This incredible new capability is both easy to use and immensely powerful.

Now you can create your own custom-made PS2-compatible discs containing MP3 music, movies"

Does that mean with this people who dont have a chipped ps2 will be able to patch their game, as opposed to just using an option file...?

Any info would be appreciated.

The device does look like a max drive and should do the job but the critical thing you need is the ps2 disk that allows the ps2 to access the usb drive.

I have a max drive already so I can get an option file (say off PESfan) and use the PS2 disc to load the option file onto the memory card...

What I think sounds interesting is that apparently (well definately if you read datels website) you can use some PC software that comes with the MAX EVO to create CD's that can be played on your PS2 without having to chip your ps2 and lose your warranty.

Their idea is probably to use it for burning movies and mp3 files etc, but what if you could patch your copy of pro evo 5 and play it without needing a chipped ps2 (which I havent got)...

Hope im clear on this...
