*RETIRED*
The expected release is March 2010.

It'll probably suck in ways similar to the first. However, being as its set in 15th century Italy, I'll buy.

Most likely the game has to do with Leonardo Da Vinci, because he wrote his notes backwards (as you can see the writing above the symbol says Game Informer 4.16.09) so that just gives a clue about who and what the game is about. And I think it will be set in Florence, Venice, Milan and Rome. Just like the kingdoms in the 1st edition, but this time there will be war between either the city states or between Italy and France. But I found the 1st series of Assassins' Creed really easy the fighting was extremely easy, so i hope in this one the A.I. is a lot harder, and the game should be much more fun and free moving like GTA or something like that, because traveling by horseback through the kingdoms was quiet annoying and useless, in my opinion, so they should change it by adding much more stuff like a lot more villages, armies fighting against each other, robbers etc, secret locations (I hated the towers), a better map this time, and etc. But overall I likeed it when you were in the city scaling buildings, the cities were extremely realistic and dodging the enemy was fun. So I'm really looking forward to this new installment of the game :)

Totally, it has the foundations of a great game they just have to make it more fun and less repetative.

Assasins creed (the first one) was, in my opinion, one of the biggest disappointments ever; I thought it was absolutely shocking.

I like the idea of it being set in italy though, but then again I liked the idea of the first one, so this one probably wil disappoint me again.

In other assasins creed related news...

I may get it if I like the demo. My brother had the first one but he sold it after he completed the story mode.

I didn't get this, a few mates had it though, I had a few plays and I found it quite easy. Wasn't very enjoyable, just jumping off building Faith-Leaping, sneaking up to kill people, too predictable.

I don't know what they can do to make it more enjoyable and addictive though. Maybe get some more characters in there and maybe be able to choose from a handful of career modes.

You are looking at the main character of Assassin's Creed 2. According to our tipster, this image was discovered on the official Ubisoft forums before it was taken down. The high-resolution render is definitely authentic, and the character possesses more than a little resemblance to Altair from the first game. Looks like gray hoodies are always in fashion, regardless of the era.

Other rumored details have supposedly been leaked in early copies of the next Game Informer. ScrewAttack says the main character is Ezio Auditore de Firenze, a nobleman of Florence from 1476. Ezio is yet another genetic predecessor of Desmond's (y'know, the annoying guy that doesn't kill people?). You'll supposedly be able to swim and access a gliding machine at DaVinci's workshop. And most excitingly of all, you'll play through more mission types. Word of that alone makes us eagerly anticipate our next issue of GI. (Check out the cover, after the break.)

Looks pretty badass.

I think it will be released this year.

It would be great if you could actually take part in battles in this, like Fornovo and Pavia. Maybe use some of Da Vinci's concepts in the process, and perhaps even Machiavelli's proposed military reforms. It would be a wise move to change the focus somewhat, because, really, professional lone assassins were very rare in Renaissance Europe.
