I've been playing Fifa 09 for the last few months, and although I really enjoyed it at first I've found it really repetitive in the last few weeks.

I started playing PES 2009 again last night and it's so refreshing!! :)

Ok, so there are def a lot of problems. For one the speed is ridiculous. You feel like you're in fast forward most of the time! But it's so nice to be able to have defenders who don't have the turning circle of a tank like on Fifa!!! And the attackers don't ALWAYS break away and are not impossible to catch like on Fifa!!! :realmad:

The main thing for me though is the fact I'm actually enjoying PES where as Fifa, although superior to PES in some ways, was so frustrating! I've just played a ML game against Real Madrid in the Champs Lg and I went 2-0 down (This is where on Fifa all your players would suddenly lose any sort of pace and the opposition would become world beaters!) but I pulled one back in the 72nd minute and then smashed an equaliser in off the bar in the 86th minute. I was jumping up and down in the room on my own :w00t I just never really got this with Fifa.

I know PES 2009 needs a lot of improvements, but after playing Fifa solidly for 4 months or so, it's good to be back with PES!! No football game is as fun or as engaging as Pro Evo in my opinion.

Plus you hit the post about 6 times every game on Fifa! :realmad:

In fifa the defending is good, but AI defenders are overrated. That was the only major bad thing on fifa. As soon as you dribble, they come and take the ball and the game's dribbling is unresponsive. As for pes. It is really responsive compared to fifa. Anyway my point is that both games aren't next gen. Next gen can hold much more that fifa 09 and pes 09.
Lets hope that 2010 will be the year where the ps3 shines and X360 aswell.

welcome back

and i made this point several months ago about fifa i got booked i sincerely hope it doesnt happen here

but i for one completley agree with you ,fifa never feels different ,i played it for a month first time since 02 ,and i could still play the same 5 pass passing move ,i used to use ,in 98 rtwc and i did it in every game i played in 09 ,wheres the joy in playing something you know you can beat?

on the other hand ,it still plays better than this years version of pes ,which feels like a enlarged big sprite version of pes08 only with a slower ball so it feels and looks right ,just too awkward to play with its random passing and under strength passes who seem like they have kicked a wet ball while wearing workmens boots

i wouldnt be able to play either for a month solid ,let alone 4

I agree with you about PES 2009's faults, of which there are many, but my point is that PES never gets boring for me. Yes I have periods where I don't play it for a couple of weeks, but I never feel like I want to snap the CD in half and not play it again and this is how Fifa has made me feel recently :crymore:

Fifa is superior to PES in a lot of areas this year, but PES still beats it in the most important one: Being fun to play!!

i disagree ,i think fifa is more fun to play the gameplay is much more fluid ,but pes is more rewarding ,its much more complex making you concentrate through out

dont know if you will agree with me on this one but i find fifa very easy to pass through ,its like the AI allows you to pass waits for you to move then tackle ,where as pes ,will pressure ,and try to intercept the pass ,or at least foul you ,i feel this is where pes wins hands down

I agree to a point about Fifa - It is def easier to pass through and do quick passers around the opposition. But I also think that Fifa only really lets you play that type of game. I find that on PES I can pass through the middle, take it out to a winger, beat a man and cross it in. Where as on Fifa I very rarely beat a man by dribbling, it almost forces you to play the passing game all the time. The controls are really unresponsive compared to PES too.

I also feel that I score a hell of a lot of the same type of goals on Fifa eg breaking clear and ALWAYS using the outside of the boot to pass it into the corner!! Where as on PES the goals always seem slightly different and mean more when I score.

I feel like I'm really hammering Fifa and saying its rubbish, when I actually think it's massively improved this year, it's just that, as always, after a few months it still becomes repetitive and you learn it's tricks.

exactley my point about pes being more rewarding

but since you have a copy of fifa ,try this

in a standard 4-4-2 formation

from defence left full back ,pass to left midfield ,then pass square to your nearest centre midfeild pass foreward to your centre foreward on the left side ,then pass it back to your same midfielder ,then through ball to your foreward on the right ,and hes clean through ,its worked on every version of fifa ive ever played from 98

now try the same passing move on any version of pes the difference between the two games is amazing

But to be fair to fifa. The AI CHEATING is far less and the cpu control in your players is also far less, making it more manual controlled rather than luck based.
But yeah, the goals in pes have more variation for sure.
