I've heard that when using a Flip Top Lid to play WE6FE there is a chance the picture may become black and white. How can I get round this. I'm due to get it any day now.

Scart lead probably.
IMO, it's not the method used to play the games that causes the colour change to B&W, it's the game itself.
The TV doesn't recognise the foreign format but this is solved with the right scart lead.

I have been searching on the net, and I think I have found a backup solution, if the RGB Scart Cable does not work. There is a website: http://www.techtrix.co.uk.
which sells a NTSC - Pal convertor module, which solves the colour problem instantly. The only slight draw back is it runs from the back of the Playstation 2 into the Ariel socket. Therefore I imagine the graphics won't be quite as sharp, but then again, it's only £8, and it beats playing it in black and white. Anyway it only has to be stop gap until you can afford a TV with an RGB scart socket.

It sounds interesting but the problem is that it won't be scart and not at nice looking (which is important to me!). Let us know if it works.

...

The only reason your gonna get a black and white image is if your TV is not compatible with the region of the game. e.g. If you get an American Game (NTSC) your TV is gonna need to be NTSC compatible for it to come in colour.

Most new TV's are, but you can always ask and check.. Literally all TV's within the last 6 months def are, my new widescreen def is :)

I found that the BLAZE Ultimate Scart Cable which you can find on Gameplay.co.uk for under £10, gives a crystal clear, colourful picture.
