Creating space in Opps defence

One of the biggest problems for me right now is having the opposition overwhelm most of my attacks. Unless I catch them on the break I am usually faced with a large number of opposing players inside their own area and it's difficult to find a way through them.

Does anyone have a particularly effective strategy for drawing defenders out of position and creating space in the area? Any suggestions appreciated.

I normally find that passing and moving helps a lot.

Holding L1 and 'X' when making a pass, then when the player has received, thread a nice through ball to him using 'Triangle'.

well i'm much more of a bribbler and technical guy. i like to go with zidane, pull off two moves, beat four players, through pass to owen and goal. if you want to destroy their defense or create runs or try the one-two which marrison89 described, or else try using the chip through pass. check the radar, and when your attacker has begun a run, just do the pass and you have a clear one on one. it's needs a lot of practive till you perform it perfectly

I like to dribble around the edge of the box if it gets crowded with defenders. If there's no hope of getting in with a SMF or CF, see if you have an OMF running on, pass the ball to him and get him to smash it first fime from outside the box, Lampard style.

Takes practise though

i like to make the defence work, string a few passes(works w/ Human opp) and play a nice possession but proggress slowly up the pitch......wait until he/she gets frustrated and start making un-necessary tackles and get his/her defence out of shape should at least free up a player and use either one of the afformentioned techniques^^^^^

This prob is common knowledge but when you have the ball you don't need to run all of the time using R1 or R2, you have much better control without and much easier to walk around people.

Another cheeky way of opening up space is to use a midfielder just before the half way line and run diagonally towards the wing, look at the radar and you will see you winger push onto the left back/right back that is marking him...then play an aerial through ball L1+triangle jus as your player is in line with theirs on the radar. By the time the screen catches up with play your player should be a few yards ahead of the defender....

Tricky to explain but very effective :)
