I've been supporting PES for many years now, and I think I speak for quite a lot of fans, when I say that Konami could learn a little something from the producers of the Mortal Kombat series.

As can be appreciated in the posted YouTube video clip, the producers of Mortal Kombat 9, NetherRealm Studios, have offered downloadable content to add more characters to their game, which has logically pleased their fans.
I think Konami could easily do the same for their fans, by offering officially licensed classic teams as DLC. I can speculate that Diego Maradona inspired teams or Pele inspired teams might be more difficult to implement into the game, due to licensing problems. However, there are many teams and many great footballers that could be easily and cheaply implemented into the game as DLC, and this would undoubtedly go a long way in improving the relationship between Konami and the fans.
Considering the fact that we are lacking variety when playing online, due to the vast amount of people who just play with either Barcelona or Real Madrid, officially licensed classic teams would add some much needed appeal and variety into online play, as star footballers from past eras could be used online. Therefore it would not only be something practical, but it would also show that Konami is willing to go to such a distance in order to offer something extra to the fans.
