There are many ways to play NTSC games on a PAL PS2. You can use a slide card (there is are some threads about it on this site) orhave your PS2 chipped (a good search on the net should help you).

Like Gazza said, a mod chip is the best bet. I have had one for a good couple of years now and I wouldn't be able to live without it now! I would recommend the DMS3 chip as it is really reliable, has it's own website and is not prone to overheating.

Agreed, a modchip is the best way but it's also the most expansive one. I use a slidecard because I only want to be able to play WE8 and its sequels. So a modchip is to expansive for the way I'm going to use it. Do you want to play import games more frequently, I'd say go for the modchip.

So hold on since I use a swap magic boot dvd and slide card to play the NTCS WE8 does that mean i can play the PAL vers. of WE8 which would be essentially PES4 on my US console? If so where can I pre-order a PAL game if I'm from the states?

What do you do if you need to play PAL games on American ps2?

Im in Canada working for the year (live in London) and have bought an American Ps2 - I want to get We8 from Japan or Pro evo 4 from London. If I buy the slide card and magic discs will it enable me to play uk games(ie PAL) on my American PS2(NTSC) or will I have to get it chipped?

Someone told me that the magic discs and swipe card wouldnt enable me to play a pal game on an American ps2 but not sure if thats true. Thanks for your help guys
