I've scored quite a few on this years pro.
There isn't really a skill for me when i do it, all i do is try and guess what power is enough and then i press triangle while the player is running up really.

if the free kick are quite near to the goal i hold R2 and down ( arrow ) and when the player will hit the ball press ( X ) and if it far from the goal , hold R2 and up and when the player will hit the ball hit traiangle bottom .
