Ok first off lads I know lots of people from my area that can't host games at all, Gadge reckons its because we get a random ip address every time we dial up with our router.We are with iol so I said I'd chance them and see if I could get a fixed one, I was told i couldn't and it was the same way on all the other Irish bband networks.
As far as we know it works something like this, we dial up and get an ip, then iol have another one waiting to let us surf the net, that then means that there might be 2 ip's to deal with,leaving us stuck in the middle of nowhere!
We are using a "Zyxel prestige 623r-t1 router" and have the fire walls off,we can play away games no problem but just can't host.If anyone from ireland can host could you please tell us how your with and what you had to d
r if someone thinks they can help like wise as its life or death at this stage.
