Is it worth it?...

I've recently come across some extra money (YAy1) and I'm contemplating "modding" my PS2 and getting WE7.

My brother brought round his GC and a copy of WE6FE and I haven't played PES2 since.

So would the people that have done this, advise me to either get it, or to leave it and wait for PES3?

I would say get the mod, get WE7 and also wait for PES3.
WE7 will get the new patches for proper kits and all that jazzy stuff which should be amazing.

Yeah, I have my chip for a couple of weaks now, and WE6FE is just great and WE7 with patches will be great to. I cannot imagine to wait until October/November to play PES3

i am getting a dvdrw if my GCSE results are good. can anyone tell me where i can find reliable dvdr media which are the best for ps2 games.

Cheers for the replies, I've been looking at the available ways to mod me PS2 and the ad/disadvantages of doing so.

Might get one of them Flip top lids but seems a bit fiddly.

And how do these chips work? I'm pretty sure it isnt an easy plug in thing, does it also involve my PS2 "Going under the knife"... speaking of which, the knife trick, seems the easiest one of the lot, but I've heard it can bagger up your CD drive

I don´t have experiences with the Flip Top but it seems to work with WE6FE and it´s cheaper than chipping . I think you cannot install the chip for yourself, someone other has to do it for you. When you want your console be chipped then it must be opened. I don´t recommend you all every method that is somehow connected with the knife-trick. Slide Card (new method of using the knife-trick) or the "good old" knife-trick without the card will damage your cd drive.

Chipping mostly requires soldering of the chip into your machine and probably should be done by experts. You can find out more about all the various methods of playing WE6:FE in the Editing section and the Patching sticky at the top of the General section.

there is a boot disc available called dvd swap magic but for it to work you also need a mod chip or a slide card.
