I recently lost my memory card and was about to buy a new memory card + Max Drive. But I'm wondering if Max Drive can just be a memory card substitute, or do you need a memory card to transfer files onto Max Drive?

ive got a max drive for the xbox and that can be used as a memory card so its probally the same on all formats

Cheers. I should have mentioned PS2, cos I'm thinking about the loading screen, your options are "Slot 1 or Slot 2", does having Max Drive plugged in created an extra slot?

im not sure cos on the xbox the max drive goes in the memory card slot but im about 90% sure i would be ok without a memory card
