I am planning on buying one or the other but don't know...

Are they the exact same game?

What's different about them?

My friend has Winning Eleven 8 and it's awesome, so should I just buy that?

well, if you can read Japanese it doesn't make a difference, if not, might as well wait for PES4, it's just around the corner

and make sure your ps2 has been chipped unlike sum dumbass who came around asking why we8 wasn't working on his PAL ps2

Yeah, since you live in the US, don't bother with PES4 -- unless, of course, you have a modded PS2.

Either get WE8, wait for the improved WE8I for Japan (likely due out in December/January), or wait even longer and settle for the North American version of WE8I (due out in March/April 2005, although it will probably be a port of PES4).

yea i have played pro evo 4 and we8 from my mates console and pro evo 4 is better IMO.
