PES3 PC - Performance/Gfx/Settings

Dear all,

Thought i'd share the results of p*ssing around with my PC to try and get the PC version of PES3 working properly.

First my spec:

P4 3Ghz (overclocked to 3.6Ghz)
1Gb DDR
Radeon 9800Pro

I installed CD version, and it ran ok, but kept causing the Radeon to crash and restart itself (I also changed every 3D ATI setting, and every PES3 setting, res and quality). This was happening about 4-5 times per match, a pain in the arse.

So I installed the patch, which made matters much worse, had the horrible line running across the screen as if it couldnt redraw quick enough. So im not sure if the patch was correct for my version or not.

So uninstalled and re-installed CD version, but this time I set the PES3 resolution to match my desktop res, as the problem is clearly a bug and not a crappy PC. Now it runs like a beauty, no crashes and its running at full wak (1280 * 1024, high).

So I reckon the desktop res and PES3 res need to be the same...

Now can someone tell me how the bleedin hell to get Beckham curling his shots and free kicks??

lol, nice spec machine...probably looks fckin perfect..I mean 9800pro 3ghz..1gb mem!! it's the business!!...but i still think crappier PCs still play a part in performance. Well I do run my desktop the same as PES3 res, 1024x768 on both...so you could have a point there....what about refresh rate for your monitor? what do you use?

Mine is...

P4 1.5Ghz
256MB RAM
128MB Radeon 9600 Pro
Win98

The demo worked like a dream at 1280 x 1024, with absolutely no slowdowns or speed ups in window mode.

But the demo hardly works as well. I've finally found a playable setting, but it doesn't look and play as well. I have to set it to 1024 x 768 and low details in window mode for it to playable. There are still slowdowns but I get these anyway even at the lowest resoultion. I'm playing it now, but I just can't get over the fact that the demo ran so much better. :(

AndrewC, Have you tried switching the commentary off? remember the demo didnt have that...so it put less strain on memory and cpu usage to process speech samples.

Yeah, switched it off because it was crap to be honest. But I think you might have a point there. I think by making it have no commentary it just turns the volume of it down. So if I can somehow delete the commentary files I think I could be ok... I'll see if I can do that.

You'd think a PS2 port would run on a p3 wouldnt you?? Think Konami have a bit of work to do to get it to run properly on slightly older machines, as I read on other posts that people think their PC version may not be using the Windows DirectX properly...and some others are saying disable sound to get it to run properly, which just ain't acceptable...

But anyway, my refresh rate is 75 now, and it is smooth as anything.

Not sure if running windowed helps or not either, I didnt really try that (apart from recovering from the lovely gfx crashes)
