One becomes two as North South returns for 2007.
As the PES Rankings community swells, Konami are pleased to announce that the previously successful North Vs South event has now been split into two individual tournaments and will be the final two Official Konami competitions before the UK Grand Final in September. They will both offer a huge amount of Rankings points to the victors, as well as some fantastic prizes along the way.
The South event will take place on Saturday 21st July at the Emirates Stadium in North London. The second event will take place a couple of weeks later on Sunday 5th August at the Reebok Stadium, Bolton. The events will follow many of the Konami offline events where players will be entered into a group stage before a knockout tournament will then take place to determine the winner of each tournament. Both the North and South competitions will take place on the PS2.
Competitors are free to enter both tournaments if they wish, but there will be a much stricter invite process for these events to prevent people from registering and not playing. Once you have signed up through PESRankings.com you will be sent an invite through the post approving your interest has been registered and then asking you to confirm attendance with special details printed onto your invite. Failure to register once you receive an invite through the post will mean you are not eligible to play. Full details will be posted on the PES Rankings site once the tournaments are open to register. It is vital that your contact details are up to date, otherwise you won’t receive the postal invite and therefore won’t be able to play.
The winners will bag themselves a selection of prizes kindly donated from Play.com, more of which will be announced soon along with the full details for each event. To give you an example, last year’s prizes included an LCD TV, mobile phones and PSP’s as well as games, trophies and clothing.
The last North and South event saw Mark Gardiner and Rob Mclean as the finalists, thus guaranteeing their place at the UK Grand Final. Such was their dominance of the Rankings league last year they both qualified for the Euro Finals in 2006 too. If you want to stand a chance of emulating them, it is vital you attend at least one of these tournaments so register now!
