I began a Master League just over a week ago with my Custom Team, "Athletico Benavente". Yes, they're actually a real place, I simply looked at an atlas and picked out a town in Spain for my team, therefore I also have rivals situated very close by, being "Vallidolid". Anywho, I've only got a couple of below average players that I could buy with the small funding at the beginning of the League, therefore meaning the League is very tough.

I was playing AEK Athens in what was an extremely tight encounter, and to be honest, they probably had the better of me for the majority of the match, at least in terms of shots, however I dominated possession. But it remained 0-0 for the entire game, however in Stoppage Time, Rivaldo of AEK Athens dived inside the box it appeared and won a penalty. I was controlling Stremer and was just guarding the goal with Rivaldo in front with his back to goal, and as soon as Rivaldo collected the ball, he fell down, I couldn't believe it as I didn't press anything on the controller. I was so furious as my hard work had been undone it seemed through a petty dive in Stoppage Time. However as Rivaldo stepped up, he blasted the ball wide, I was literally dancing around in my front room, I was in heaven, I felt the beauty of PES again.

I'm beginning to love this game despite it's flaws.

Believe it or not there is. There is still 2 Divisions, however Division 2 has been expanded, instead of the usual 8 teams or whatever it was, it's now a full Division of 20 teams. It's a real struggle to gain promotion now as you can imagine, and also "Popularity" has been included, which sort of tells you how popular you are as a team, and as well as your individual players. This can help negotiations, for example your team Popularity will start off at "D" I think, and you'll gradually build up to "C" and so on. But you'll have much more chance of buying from similarly ranked Popular teams, whereas team's with players ranked much more Popular will more than likely laugh at your pitiful attempt to sign one of their players.

The menu's have a new sleek and modern look to them, which was very much needed from their box like arcade presentation before. The Master League is quite different yet similar in terms of what we partly come to expect. The Computer teams do get annoying however, they quite often cheat to win etc, and they do score in between 80-100% of their free-kicks just outside the box, therefore you can't touch them near that area. It can also get incredibly frustrating at times if you're playing on Top Player as it's extremely difficult at times, especially if you begin with a Custom Team, and default players etc.
