XBOX PES4 Disc faulty ?

I bought pes for xbox on Friday - I was very excited to take it online. But it took me 3 attempts to actually boot the game up to the main menu. I kept getting a message telling me that:

"...problem with the disc. It may be scratched or dirty"

Even when I did manage to start the game, it kept freezing the screen midmatch. When this happens I have to reboot. As you can imagine this is not winning much goodwill on LIVE.

Anyways, I took the game back to the shop and got a new copy but this is just as bad.


Has anyone else had this problem ? Could it just be that my very old Xbox can't handle this game? In that case I will have to shell out £100 to play my favourite game..

Maybe you should run a cd-lens cleaning disk in your xbox. I'm new to xbox so don't know anything else to suggest.

strangely, it's often newer, cleaner disks that have problems when you use them on older DVD/CD roms...maybe they just get used to dirty scratchy disk. :)

Hey i get the same message i got mine the first time i put the cd in .I bought my cd from game to .My xbox does play Halo 2 and other games perfectly but why is it only on pes 4 .Should i return the game or what .The weird thing is that sometimes i can play for a full 2hrs without any problems but most of the time i get this msg during the 1st game .Have tried the lens cleaner still no help .Can any one offer me anyother suggestion ...Thnx

Jake, it is exactly the same for me. All my other games were fine, just PES causing problems.

I also tried the lens cleaner and it was no help. So I bit the bullet and got a new xbox - the crystal xbox for £99.99. Hopefully I will be able to get a bit of wonga for my old one to offset the cost.

Anyway, the game works perfectly on the new box. I got my old box just after they came out so I think that makes it nearly 3 yrs old. Maybe yonson99 hit the nail on the head with old drives playing newer games being an issue.

How old is your Xbox? Incidently the crystal one is pretty good , much less whiring noise than the old one (Sorry, a bit off-topic).
