Has any game ever had so many near-perfect ratings across platforms? Usually one review score would fall away slightly.

To be honest I can't see where all the hype is coming from. It's just a first person shooter. I played the demo and wasn't blown away by it and the thing that impressed me the most was the graphics of the fire and water where you start off..

The graphics impressed me alot, but the gameplay seemed like the same thing over and over after 5 minutes. See a person, stun them, shoot them/hit them, they die, you search their body, take their stuff and carry on.

PC demo is released today. Softpedia already have it but the official website says the release is 7pm EST. I believe it to be 1.84GB in size.

You must download the graphics card drivers released today by both ATi and nVidia. At this very moment, the drivers are not on the nVidia site.

I take it the drivers will be release once the demo is released. Too bad - I'm actually downloading the demo right now, with about 30 mins left.

edit: Actually, it's just finished downloading.

Meh, I'm not going to bother with the demo seeing as I'm getting it the day it's coming out. It's pretty darn big after all, only for a demo.

Yeah its 1.8gb download. Fun demo though. I was playing it for a while. Looks and runs great on my PC.

Yea based on playing the demo it did seem to get abit repetative, bit like with Crackdown where you basically do the same thing all the time...

Reviews have touched on this fact, stating that in essence you're not playing the game as intended - being able to kill in so many ways - if you stick to the few ways you'll find of generally killing most things in a routine manner. Just up to the player's imagination I guess.

Play.com seem to have the game in stock already, so if anyone wants it a day or so before the release then that's the place to go. I'm contemplating it, but I've never been fond of buying a game outright, especially for more than £30. I prefer Trading old games, but couldn't find any other store that has them in Stock, the rest simply say "Out Friday" etc.

I'll be buying it after playing the Demo mind, it's very good and innovative. I never really felt a sense of repitition either, plus the storyline seems flawless.

Yeah it seems like a great game. I too didn't find any sense of repetition.

I overclocked my E6420 from 2.1ish to 3.7 ghz so hopefully I should be able to run it on full. My case is pretty good as well so it's only 45c

What stepping is the processor? My E6850 has the same temperatures running at 3.6Ghz and I can't be bothered with the minimal real-life gains in getting it to 3.8 or 4.

I've played the demo in XP (DirectX 9) with full settings at 1600x1050 and it was perfect. Interested to see DirectX 10 performance under Vista as nVidia's GeForce 8 series suffer in some DX 10 games.

According to my knowledge my stepping is 6 or something along those lines. Does running your processor overclocked deteriorate it at all even if it's a low temperate? I thought as long as it didn't go above 80c then there wouldn't be a huge problem. Strangely though my PC does crash from time to time now, although not that often so I'm not gonna change anything.

I'm using a 8800 GTS with 312 of ram methinks. I'm only going to be running the game at 1280x1024 so that amount of ram onboard should be fine.

Perfect graphics card for that resolution. Only have a 640MB version due to the 1600x1050 resolution I play at. Perfect, that is, until they prove for certain nVidia screwed up DirectX 10 utilisation on these cards as our frame rates get pretty much cut in half. If the GeForce 9 series come out before Christmas as is rumoured, nVidia are on damage control somewhat but in saying that, I can't think of many games which will come without DirectX 9 support. DirectX 10 support will simply be an additional feature - and such games do look amazing ;)

Overclocking of any kind theoretically deteriorates the processor faster, especially with a large percentage overclock like yours. Processors are cheap now though. The 80c is when it could fry itself. Incidentally, from what you said I'm certain you have a B6 stepping. Only asked as I've got a G0 which are meant to run cooler but temperatures read incorrectly and you have to add 15c to what Intel TAT and Coretemp claim.
