after PES 2008 being a disappointment for me, i returned to play PES 5, and believe me it still has its appeal after all previous years.
these things are very important -in my opinion- in gaming industry (longevity), which makes PES 5 one of the best video games ever made.
(still waiting for my copy of PES 2009).

In terms of loffline mode its just terrible. it has nothing like a master league....the manager mode os pathetic. the online is neat howeer it never lags so thats fun but it just feels like im doing the same thing over and over again really.

the goals are lame.

I have to say that i disagree completely. Fifa plays a great passing game, and when you switch on manual crossing you can put some sick crosses in, plonking them just outside the area for somebody to run onto and volley. The good thing about this is that it takes some mastering to get your crosses where you want them.

Then there's the L2 button to do a slow dribble, perfect for beating players in tight situations in the box.

I'm new to FIFA after playing PES/ISS for 15 years, so i'm still mastering it, but i'm finding it offers me all the things i love about PES and a whole lot more. It's the complete package, and i'm loving it more and more every moment.

Can someone please explain in detail how every game in Fifa is identical? I see it is a common opinion and am a tad baffled as to what facts it is based on?

I've been playing pes 09 for 4 days now and I haven't scored a goal that was almost the same as another. Every goal has it's own WOW factor in it unlike in 08.

people keep sayin fifa has been out longer, it has, but c'mon 2 weeks more, thats not long at all.
i agree that fifas play does get repetetive offline, but so does pes but not to the same extent.
my opinion on fifa hasnt changed from day one and neither has my opinion on pes
i've played them both about equal amounts of time, (didnt get to play fifa as much at the start had alot of work on)
fifas online is great
pes online is shocking again
fifa offline good game very much improved but still gets repetetive
pes offline, same old magic, little bit broken, but meh, also does get slightly repetetive but thats obvs, i'm playin against a comp

I've been playing it for a few days and every goal has been pretty standard Pro Evo really. That's not always a bad thing, but the difficulty of Fifa on "legendary" makes scoring very satisfying. Nearly scored an "RVP against Charlton" style volley with Rosicky earlier using the manual cross. Just flashed over the bar, but would have been sick.

I don't use the skills to much yet, they're hard to do at the right time, but i'm becoming a give and go wizard just like i am on Pro Evo. a=And the manual cross, which i've just started to use, is quality stuff, loving it.

The core of the game; passing shooting and tackling; has been the same throughout all the PS1 and PS2 games. They have been improved for the PS3 (shooting in particular leads to some spectacular - but easy, providing you use the finesse shot - finishes).

The problem with FIFA is that from like 2002 to 2006 they just concentrated on some tiny details: the first touch control, that awful manual passing (you pressed a button and you chose between three players to pass to), the 'trick stick'.

It has made changes though - 2009 is definately not like, for example, 2005.

i agree with you 100%
thers a few on here saying give pes more time
well give fifa more time, admitadly it may need more time, but like you say it is possible to do give and go's, manual crosses ect

both games deserve time in my opinion, i like many havent played fifas previous versions in years so yes its gonna feel weird and that, but in time i got used to it and i am enjoying every minute! (spesh with hull city online COUSIN!!!!)

You're not really explaining much there mate. The old Fifa's are undoubtedly cack, while 2009 is a completely different kettle of fish. Hence why many old Fifa fans have gone off the new version, it's too deep and Pro Evo like for them to cope with. When i say Pro Evo like, i mean it takes the best parts of Pro Evo and throws out the shit.

Have you set the controls to match Pro Evo too? You can get them perfect, bar the tricks. I feel right at home on it now, and can apply the same tactics i do on Pro Evo. Except in Fifa my teammates are on the same wavelength and make the runs i want them too.
