Not too sure about that... I know my original 60GB version had backwards compatability (to a certain degree - thanks Sony), but the 40GB version, the compatability was dropped...

Not sure exactly how the new models rate...

I think all PS3 can play PS1 games. The 40 GB, new 80GB and 160GB can't play PS2 games.

Otherwise, it would piss some people off if they bought a PS1 game from the PSN without knowing it wouldn't work on their PS3.

Yeah all PS3's can play PS1 games but they have to be from the region the console is from.

Not all play PS2 games though. Mine does :smug:

Fair doo's. The only PS1 game I still own is Worlds Wildest Police Chases. Never tried it on my PS3 though...

Mine is Winning Eleven 5. I regretted throwing away Metal Gear Solid.

I never cared about Backward Compatibility because I never bought the original copies of PS1 and PS2 games. I know that it is considered as stealing, but I had no choice.

By the way, when is Home going to be released?

By the way, when is Home going to be released?

Not been interested enough to follow it's progress, but was under the impression it was supposed to be this year...

I'm sure I heard you would get access to it from the XMB... if that's the case it'll come as part of a firmware update.

50!

115 and Counting...
Buying an extra controller for my PS3, wheres the best/cheapest place to buy one?

Want something official and don't mind if its Sixaxis or Dualshock.

Assuming that your PS1 games are bought in your country, then, yes. I'm not really sure whether an imported PS1 games work with your USA PS3.

Yeah my PS1 game is from the same region as my PS3. I like to go back to Final Fantasy IX from time to time.

I think all the newer PS3 models, those released after August 08 or something, do not have PS2 backward compatibility. That's okay though because I sold all my games to raise some money for this pricey system.

Getting this message on Warhawk:

Tried deleting the game data, even re-downloaded the game from the store, but the message remained. :faceplm:

If I was buying a PS3 now I'd rather they added more USB slots or PS2 compatibility, not more GBs. HDDs are so cheap these days.

Ok I am fucking pissed - for the second time within the space of a year, my PS3 has died, it can no longer read games. The first one I got last Xmas conked out last January, and now the replacement has died. The quality control on these things is fucking atrocious. I wish cancer on the cunts who made it.

According to the Times Online, a web version of the UK newspaper that's been in circulation since 1785, the long-awaited PlayStation Home will be released "in the next 10 days." The article is dated December 7th, so simple arithmetic would allow us to conclude that Home will make its debut by December 17th.

At the very least, the rumored date seems realistic; afterall, we've been promised again and again that Home will make its debut in 2008. Sony won't attest to the accuracy of that date. "We're not commenting on that story, I'm afraid," an SCEE representative told VG247. Let's all keep our fingers crossed -- bring Home home, Sony!
