Yup, it's all about ratings -

Euro - play well in all matches, particularly any CL or UEFA matches.
World - have to top ratings for that season in International football, and it helps to assist or score loads.

You get a lovely cut scene!

my player was 23 at the time. ma stats are awesome aswell for a cf aswell but im still not happy with them because i want to get all my striking attributes into 90+ so that i can move onto top player. ive only got my dribble accuracy to go now so its good times my freind, good times.

The first team i got signed for was Sunderland playing as WF/RMF. It took me ages to get into the team, but i started to realise that if i stayed in position and marked the other teams left back i got some good ratings. I got into the team and my debut was against Chelsea, coming on as a sub. I scored a pretty good goal from outside the 18 yard box and won the game for Sunderland, which i was really surprised about because my player was awful. It was the only game i played for Sunderland becasue i signed for Newcastle in the middle Negotiation period, but it meant my average rating for Sunderland was 7.5 lol.
I played for Newcastle for 1 and a Half seasons as WF/CF. I got plenty of games apart from one spell of poor performances that saw me dropped from the match day squad. I got a few man of the matches and really randomly got the most amount of assists in the European masters cup. When i joined Newcastle they were 7th, but by the end they were going to be relegated, so i took an offer from Real Betis and joined the Spanish League.
I played really well at Real Betis and got a lot of goals for a midfielder, my stats were starting to improve a lot and my player was getting quite fast. I was described as the teams most important attacking force at one point lol. At the end of one season at Real Betis i got a really good offer from Sevilla, so i went there straight away as they were in the european champoinship and got a good league standing the last season.
Im now in my fourth season and getting some starts for Sevilla, i'm hoping Sevilla will be the team that propels me to the better teams such as Real Madrid or Man u.
My main stats are....

Top speed: 86
Acceleration:84
Stamina:89

and a few others, cant remember them

Difficulty: Top player

UPDATE: I was right, after only half a season at Sevilla Real Madrid gave me an offer, even though my players still pretty bad, and i accepted. Only thing is, Real Madrid dont play a RMF, so im having to play LMF occasionally when Robben isnt playing, or CF. At least this means im getting some more goals and better ratings as well, this could be an awesome position move.

How many Most valuable player titles did you get? rating is important, but whats more is topping assist and goal rankings in all competitions, and specifically winning as many MVP titles as you can (league, cup and euro (or masters cup)) when i got world and euro,my rating was 7.29, whereas the year before it was 7.37 with many more goals, but that was only really in the league. when i won the awards, it was because i performed well in all competitions and won all MVP's.

^I don't remember, because that was on X360 (now it's sent to microsoft for 3 red lights and now I am playing it on ps3).
But it was over 30 MVp's for sure in that season.

i believe winning the MVP award for the different tournaments (in order to do this you need to be doing well in the scoring and/or assist rankings anyway). Shaun- sorry i wasn't very clear about the MVP's, i just meant the award for the overall best player you can get after each competition. i think all, if not most of these three awards (league, cup and euro) are needed for world or euro.

Shaun- how different is ps3 to xbox? is it better in anyway?

^It's the same. Framerate, gameplay and graphics are the same (though the ps3 version is a bit sharper. This can be due to my tv because ps3 is on HDMI). And the best advantage on s3 is the photo imports for kits and badges and music/chants.
And yes, you need to be the best player in all tournaments and I did that in my old (360) BAL.

UPDATE: I am already on week 12 and I have scored 21 goals just in league!! and getting every MOM I score about 2-4 goals each match unbelievable currently on a 10 match unbeaten run!! :D

Im hoping to get my 100th goal for United this season wish me luck!

I love how a bunch of odd signings turn out to be great players.

I had Adam Vass (from Brescia) in my Paris St-Germain team and I thought he was tons better than Makelelé. Right now I have Roy Beerens from Herenveen in Arsenal and he's kicking ass.

Love that BAL puts you out of all control in terms of signings and whatnot. Otherwise, everyone would have CR7, Segio Ramos, Iker Casillas and whocares in their teams.

Maniche is so god damn leet that he cloned himself and now plays alongside himself in the match France - Portugal.

Is this a bug? I'd guess it's a bug in the retirement system that BAL has, seeing as a player would be reborn (Lilian Thuram is 17 in the France squad) but it seems he retired and stayed put.

EDIT: My bad, I think Maniche is edited in to one of the extra teams by Kowalski + that I've patched which means that Maniche MIGHT just have been created elsewhere. But I made a search and found FOUR Maniche's in my BAL game... strange... One was even english.

Just got an x360, and picked up PES2009 (have played it for years on PS2)

Completely addicted to BAL mode. In my 3rd season.

Went from Osasuna, to Almeria in 1st season (dont ask why lol), then got an offer from Atletico, was quite happy, so went with it.

Played for a season with them, finished 2nd top scorer in the league (CF), 10 MoM, 15 MVP, got into team of the season then......they wouldnt renew my contract!!!!

Went through the negotiations, where Villareal and others were bidding every week. Thought I'd be clever and wait until the last week (assuming VR would bid again, as they had every week) and alas I was left with only Malaga to chose! Grrr....

Now, we're top of the league, banging in goals (i'm top scorer again), and I got selected to play for Ireland in Euro Championships. Played forst game - came on as sub in second half, scored, and we won 1-0 against Czech Republic! I'm delighted with it.
Malaga aren't too bad at all...............

I made the move to Manchester United. 1,400 points a week! :huh: And I'd have played for free!

I got John O'Shea's old sqaud number, 22, by default as I failed to realise that 14 was also taken. Oh well! I shall wear the 22 with pride, in homage to John O'Shea's forever memorable winning goal at Anfield. :D Although if Ronaldo is to go, thus making the number 7 shirt vacant, I'll be there to snap it up. The same goes for Giggs' number 11, should he retire before Ronaldo departs.

I also got my first call up for Northern Ireland! Our Qualifying Group is a bit of a bastard with France, Ukraine, and Russia, in the mixer. We've played three, draw two, and lost one. I've been a second half substitute each time. I got the MIP award in one of those games.

Cheers. I'm pondering over shooting or passing. I may opt for shooting as it is difficult to crack off any meaningful efforts, especially from distance. But as a SMF better passing would go down a storm.

Nice one, mate. I can't wait to top the assists chart. If I'm ever in the scuffle for scoring accolades, like yourself, I'd be over the moon! I don't forsee that as a SMF, though, but then I doubt Cristiano Ronaldo did, either!

^Well, if you try to change your tactic of playing a little, you can be top scorer. In my first season, I was with Atalanta, playing as a RMF (for some reason he played me in the right side, even though I am a left side player) and I was the top scorer in all competitions.
I wish I could make more assists though.

Just moved from Malaga to Valencia. Hated playing in their 4-3-3, with me as RWF, but they switched me to CF, and I finished the season top scorer - including a hat-trick against Real Madrid, and 2 goals in a 2 nil win over Barca at the end of the season.

Scored again for Ireland, and we finished top of the Euro Qualifiers Group :)

Had bids in from Atletico Madrid (funny considering they wouldn't renew my contract last year) and a few others.

Went with Spurs :/ in the hope of getting a transfer to my beloved Liverpool :)

The only abilities I've got are CF and scoring (shooting?). Cant get the heading one, even though the vast majority of my goals are good headers, and I generally win a 1 on 1 in the air with any other player :(

I just can't beat Liverpool, for some reason.

Playing as Arsenal, still, and in the last three matches (within four weeks, had them in the EC aswell as a league match) we played 0-0, 0-1 and 0-0.
