Some submissions lads ya might have missed,

When your opponents on the ground and your standing R3 to grab a leg, this works if your on your back aswell you grab the standing players leg..

When your in the clinch throw a punch and press R3 to do a flying armbar, this may be just for bjj im not sure yet havent tried it but its there anyway ;)

DILKINGTON!
This game is awesome!! Was playing it all last night!

The classic fight section is great. You have to finish the fight as it actually happened and it unlocks video highlights of the fights.

Yeah this game is great. My brother made a fighter that looks exactly like him

Career mode is wicked!

One question though, what the hell is BJJ?

Same here.

Worth a rent or buy?

Buy it. I will be.

I could've bought it this morning at Tesco. I work there, so I was looking at the back of the case and they had 4 or 5 out on the shelf. I chose to wait until I got home as I'd be going up Asda, so my mum could get discount off it because she works there. Sold out though. Gay.

Never mind. They might have more in later today. Failing that, I'll just buy it tomorrow in Tesco. I do want it (almost desperately), but it's not the same as when I have to go out and by the new FIFA/PES.

BELIEVE
After completing a 3 hour Uni exam yesterday, and not having another one till Thursday I've decided to take a break today, and tomorrow before revising again. I walked to Tesco this morning to purchase UFC Undisputed, started to rain on the way home, that's dedication.

I've completed the Tutorial (again) to get the achievement, but more so to get it out of the way I think. I was exactly like this with Gran Turismo back in the day, I didn't race until completing the licenses, saying that though, they were majoritively enjoyable - whereas the UFC Tutorial is a bit boring in fairness.

After completing the Tutorial, I hopped into the Practice arena to sharpen my skills and just explore a bit really. The Practice complex seems great though, being able to alter your sparring partner and whatnot is a great touch and other options too.

My First Online Fight:

I then thought I'd have a fight online, easing into the process by choosing a Player match and not Ranked. The opponent chose good ole' Chuck Liddell, I opted for Quinton "Rampage" Jackson. It was slightly laggy but still enjoyable to be facing a human online, and it didn't seemingly affect the fight in anyway. Anywho, as Bruce Buffer was announcing our names I was hyping myself up, ready to destroy this petty Liddell. We both came out cautiously swinging mind, a few combos here and there, nothing full blown. I was getting the better of the exchanges after 1 minute in the 1st Round, I was blocking the majority of Liddell's, whilst my combos were landing cleanly. He then decided to attempt a takedown, which I sprawled, and then transitioned beautifully onto Liddell's back. I then slipped in the rear naked chokehold, before rolling Chuck over and tightening the submission - Victory by rear naked choke after 1 minute 51 seconds of the 1st Round.

Needless to say it was a great feeling and I promptly began barking loudly.

Thank you. I'm still buzzing about it.

As for meeting online, oh we will, don't you worry about that. :ninja:

It's great how it keeps your game progress, including number of submissions attempted, punches landed and whatnot, will be good coming back to that.

I think I may have a fight now, the ole' classic between Bonnar and Griffin. Oh good times. Undoubtedly one of the top fighting games ever to be released, you can tell THQ really took their time with this game and perfected the gameplay system. I just hope they don't bring out a new UFC game next year in a way, I'd rather them take say 2 years if it means we get a much more refined game without hiccups. I've a feeling the gameplay on this will last for a long time, especially if the online mode stands up. THQ will be making available downloadable fighters soon by the looks of it as well which will prolong the game that much more.

This is what gaming is all about, nothing overly extravagant in terms of presentation. The main aspect gameplay and that shows, it's a very focused game from THQ and as a result, a joy to play.

Yeah Dundons got it yesterday and I called over for afew games, had a dodgy hour or so when we turned down the menu music volume.... because wait for it..... it turned down the volume of the crowd....

After we got it back and got into the swing of things it was a great laugh, machida is excellent in it he is the don

BJ Penn is class aswell he does a punch and then jumps backwards which is class and looks great, in saying that tho I murdered him with Kenny Florian who has unbelievable knockout power... knocked Dundons out twice with flying knees

Had a fast pop off making a character aswell and I like the system it uses im sure with abit of time you could get a good likeness ;)

Also Herb Dean is the best ref...

Got to agree with you on the menu music though, the soundtrack for this is pretty awful and most definitely annoying. I'm currently just browsing the internet at the moment, and I've muted it as the game waits on the main menu. I honestly just don't see why we can't upload our own music through the Xbox 360 and customise the background music.

I got the game last night, around 12:15am from Tesco. I couldn't wait any longer.

I had a few rumbles against the CPU (on Expert) and saw some brilliant results. I then went online and stayed there for hours! I ranked up around 17 wins - 2 losses - 0 draws before having to force myself to bed, at around 5:30am. I claimed most of my victories via KO/TKO, but I pulled four or five submission victories out of the bag.

My two losses both came against Rampage Jackson, one by KO, one by Unanimous Decision. In both cases I was caught in situations that I just couldn't seem to do anything about. More practised required it seems! The first was a single collar tie that I just couldn't budge from, while my opponent furiously smashed me with left-hands. I was attempting to shake free, or transition to a body clinch myself, neither of which saw any movement until I crashed to the mat after being knocked for six. I assume it's better to either return strikes, or attempt to block.

The second was an opponent who (with Rampage) used the same gameplan the whole fight to score points, and ultimately win by unanimous decision. Body Clinch - Over/Under Hook - Big Slam - Surrender Half-Guard to Standing - Leg Kicks to Downed Oppened - Rinse and Repeat once opponent (in this case, me) gets to his feet. It was bloody infuriating, not because of the gameplan, it was sound and fair play to my oppenent for snuffing it out, but it was literally as soon as he secured the Over/Under Hook the Slam came almost instantly, literally in one movement, before my fighter could attempt anything to counter or block. I should have simply started to defend the incoming body clinches but, I'd never had trouble holding my own in that situation until that point, and would often haul my oppenent to the mat even if they initiated said body clinch. But for the entire duration of that fight it was simply impossible to hault the slam once he secured the body clinch. It was the first and only choice of offence that my opponent offered through the entirety of the fight, all three rounds, never changing, and he was a hell of a high rank, so I'm assuming he has either found a niche that a lot are yet to learn to defend correctly, or that he has discovered a lose end in the game that is almost undefendable due to a fault. But maybe that's just sour grapes on my end from being dominated.

My major gripe with the game is that on two seperate occasions I have one; KO'd an opponent, and two; submitted an opponent, who immediately upon realising they've been defeated somehow caused a server error before the game can save, to thus invalidate the result. Disgraceful. Hopefully something is sorted out where the server can detect who either leaves, or glitches (I dunno) to avoid accepting they were beaten, and save their record. I mean, I got battered in my second defeat, and I have some sour grapes about it but, I still accepted it and remained so my oppenent could see his hard earned victory added to his record.

Sounds like you're enjoying it though Winger, and you're right, it's beyond addictive. The demo was bad enough, earlier on today I intended to play for an hour or so, I looked at the clock and realised I'd been on it for three. Just then as well, I was playing a friend online, and we ended up having 9 fights instead of best of 5.

Dundons: I really don't know, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

On the note of playing with my mate, some of the fights were excellent. Nothing better than knocking your friend out, no matter how technically superior you feel transitioning him all day - a knockout is that much sweeter. After fighting 9 times, I came out as the overall winner on games 5-4. :smug: It really was a close affair throughout minus one match where I chose Sylvia - he knocked me out within 1 minute of the 1st Round (not my finest hour).

Addicted.

Aye. It's addictive alright. The skill involved is refreshing, and the depth is a wonder. I've managed to restrain from firing it up so far today. I even managed to head out! But that's about to change oh so very shortly. I'll probably lose another five or six hours without realising. It's just that damn good!

Has anyone picked up the Official Guide then? I had a brief flick through it in Game earlier today, where it's an £11.99 hit to the wallet. It seemed quite generic with a basic profile/biography for each and every fighter which doesn't really provide any real unique insights, not to mention that it takes up a hell of a lot of pages in said Official Guide. Those profiles/biographies seem to account for more than half of the content within. It also boosts a tutorial of sorts that is quite similar to that found in-game, as well as within the game manual. I never checked out the sections on the Career mode, Classic Fights, etc, so perhaps they're more up to scratch. But I was disappointed with what I did see at a glance in regards to strategic tips, or even anything of worth regarding a fighters (or a diciplines) unique abilities. I'm still tempted to buy the bloody thing, though, just to be sure. But I'll wait for a bit of feedback first.

Shame about the Official Guide by the sounds of it, I remember the PES Guides being good though. It is a steep price to pay, although I'm sure there was a site on the internet selling it for around £7 or £8. Best having a look around I think if you're interested in buying it just in case.

I'm getting into my Career now, and I'm now 4 fights deep with Thomas "The Doctor" Hunter.

I won my first fight with consumate ease as to be expected, I'm on difficulty Expert but that first fight will always be a walkover I think. My second fight though I tried to take on a decent fighter for extra respect and cred, and ended up getting battered, which to be honest wasn't particularly fun. I've been in the gym heavy since then and have upped my sparring and it's shown, I won my next fight, admittedly against a weaker opponent but that was primarily a confidence booster - victory by Knockout. After my confidence boost, I promptly accepted another fight and I've just fought Shawn Gannen as I'm in the Welterweight division. I knocked him out cold within 47 seconds of the first round. :smug: I say knocked him out, he technically knocked himself out. He went for a punch, and I went for a high kick at the same time. As he raised his right arm to swing, I threw my left high kick and struck his arm - which as a result bounced onto his own head and he dropped to the canvas.

I love this game.
