1)The people who tested 360 movement said it was a major improvement.

You know another major improvement they have made involves the way defenders mark space rather than the man, you can see it in the 'fifa10 leaked gameplay video' (real or not real, you decide).

2) There was a poster on here once called 'trigglebeef' guy knows his shit about both games, we both agreed that the FIFA games are continuation of the good work finished in pes 6, I have always said I believe fifa 09/10 to be the true successors to pes 6, as fifa took the core elements of gameplay pes had and built on it. Thus why I always say that FIFA is now PES and PES is turning into the FIFA of old.

For that reason, I dont miss PES much, all fifa need to do is make sure the manager mode is engrossing as the master league, for features, this year it will be better of that i have no doubt, they just need to make sure it has the longevity, thats one of the final pieces of the puzzle.

I understand what you are getting at. But the fact is, like you mentioned, FIFA games become repetitious and boring after only weeks whereas the PES of old would keep you going for months, if not till the next release.

I had FIFA09, and believe me when i say, I was blown away by it initially and actually posted a review on here and gave it a high 9. After about 3 weeks I just got bored of it. The gameplay is just not very exciting for me, especially the lame goals.

And that's another thing: FIFA is a good game when it comes to DEFENCE and PASSING and MIDFIELD play but it lacks so much in the final third ( where most of the excitement happens ). And, again, the goals just dont feel special like they do in PES.

The next gen pes games are, without a doubt, big failures ( not so much 2009 but even that did not even come close to the golden standards set by PES6 ).

As for 360 movement, as far as I know, the people that tested are huge fifa fans and I would assume that has something to do with them liking it. But again, we should wait and see how it is implemented and if it really is needed. I still think that 16 or 32 way would be ideal ( but maybe making it 360 degrees would not be much harder so they might have gone that extra mile ), will see.

I still have not played a better football game than PES6 and I am actually going to buy a PS2 again and a copy of the game to play.

PES6 was the COMPLETE football package:

Many statiums
Varied weather conditions
Balanced gameplay
Responsive
Tons of modes
EDIT mode is amazing
Good animations ( even now )
and much more...

A true football fans dream come true ( although PES5 is right up there with it )

BTW: I hope FIFA10 is as good as it can be. I want the best game, not KONAMIs or EAs game...just the best game.

I thought you were posting videos that highlited the "ice skating" animations. I did mention I play PES every night didn't I? Posting a random match didn't do anything for me.

I posted a video with FIFA and one with PES for you to see the difference bettween player movements.
I don't know why you can't see unrealistic movements of PES.This is my opinion,I practice football and PES doesn't seem to reflect the reality of what is on a football field.
Don't you ever ask yourslef why people like PES 6 gameplay? They like it because of realistic player movements.

Have to correct you there, soccer was a term coined in the 1800s to distinguish the two codes of football at the time, Association Football (soccer) and Rugby Football (rugger).

I don't know...but fooball should be named football not soccer, because it's a game played with the foot.

You know what, I think PES 3 is my all time favorite, If i can remember correctly that was the first pes with Licensed kits and teams, the advantage rule, I think it was the first PES with the european competitions in the master league, and others things, that was the best one imo, but im open to a change of mind on that one.

I play to. While I do agree player movement is unrealistic, I don't see the ice skating animations.

Edit mode in pes 6 was amazing? It doesn't compare to what pes 09's edit mode is capable of. But still the ability to add logos to shorts were missing in pes 09 (untucked shirts too) BUT in pes 09 the kits looked alot more realistic because the size of the logo could be perfectly adjusted + it can hold much more logos since it's a PNG pic.
As for fifa 09 and pes 09. NO NEED TO COMPARE. They both need serious work on them.
Fifa
terrible graphics (faces are horrible) for a ps3
Response sucks
shooting power isn't powerful enough to imitate real life
Moves take some time to work when you press the correct buttons so it isn't fluid.

PES
Speed is overrated
pace is too fast
defending sucks
AI is bad

As you see both games need serious fixing.
Anyway, I am really looking forward to pes 2010 and fifa 2010.

Bang on there mate, FIFA is dull and not particulary satisfying in attack. Obviously good goals, volleys and chips and long range shit, are enjoyable, but the easier goals don't give you the buzz the way they do in PES. I also think the whole scoring business, as well as the Manager mode for that matter, gets easy fast.

Don't get me wrong, I never call it soccer and I don't like the term, but it is English in origin.

We actually agree on something. The gameplay is by far my favourite. Loved the way keepers actually come out of the box and play the ball instead of punting it like a madman every fuckin time. Loved the handballs and the throw ins. FKs, passing and shooting all felt just right. Dribbling was good with the amount of space between the ball and feet even with players like Zidane. I think sliding was spot on too. Once in a while I still pop in my WE7i (Pes 3 for you folks) and enjoy a few matches and I still get blown away by the gameplay. I really don't understand why they went in another direction from then on cuz Pes 3 had so much going for it. For me Pes 3 gameplay + Pes 09 licenses + Pes 08 ps2 animations + Pes 5 features (fairplay, middle shooting) = dam near perfect.

You're joking right? That was the first instance of PES cheating in my eyes. Otherwise right, great game. Me and a couple of mates made a TV advert for it in school, good times.

For me no. Handballs are a big part of football and I'm sad they took them out. Could've just had an option to turn them off for the ladies instead of removing them completely . Besides me and my buddies didn't play Pes to win at all costs, we played cuz it was mad fun so handball penalties were a good laugh.

Handballs in pes 3 worked well, but they still need to work it out because it can be better/ more realistic.

For me if PES10 doesn't have 360 movement, then Fifa it is!!

It's not fair because although movement is important, there are other things that define football.
Shooting
passing
AI (in games)
Keepers
These are just as important as movements. So FOR me it's not fair to decide only on movements. ;)

You sound like a very confident person who has already played with '360 movement' and realize that its the next big thing...or you are just stupid and jumping to conclusions...

I'd go with the latter

Yes, but fifa has better shooting animations, and more are being added.

You cannot compare passing pes to fifa right now, seriously.

Keepers are better in fifa imo because they can actually hold the ball.

+ Manual control

+ 50 new movement cycles

+ 360 Movement

The double standards on this forum are hilarous, when fifa implements 360 movement, its not a big deal, it might not work, etc.

If pes 2010 had it, you lot would be going nutz about how exciting it is, because no sane person is going to prefer a CPU automated, 8 directional game with less teams and less staduims, when they can play a semi-manual/manual game, with 360 movement, more teams, more staduims, more players, more cups, and a vastly improved career mode.

Its the same with the master league, after 10 years it got real money and people are going nutz over that as a majot improvement, but EA are way ahead of the game and next season you will get different types of budget from the board, sponsorship, player transfers are more engrossing with bidding wars, and news on who/who isnt for sale, the board will fire you if you dont produce results, players make decisions on who to join based on prestidge of club rather than just money etc etc etc. Again, pes fans would be goin nutz if this stuff was in pes.

This is the problem with this forum, when the idea is in fifa, that means its shit, when PES get it about a year later, its amazing.

lol.

I don't give a rats ass about whatever Konami does with the ML. It's a fucked up mode full of superhuman footballers, retarded fatigue, and like a million other idiotic things. But the other members here have been asking for real currency for so many years they can't help but be overjoyed now that they finally get 1 of their wishes. It seriously has been beyond overdue.

Don't bring the entire forum into this just cuz a very small percentage are hatin on Fifa. I mentioned some really good things that Fifa 09 does that I wish Pes did. And if anyone can pull off 360 movement in a footy game it would be EA. They have tons of experience with their NHL and Madden franchises, although footy is so different cuz pucks and pigskins are practically glued to the player whereas a football needs a separate entity.
