Why PES 2011 and not FIFA 2011 ?

Hi all,

I wanted to know what is the difference between PES and FIFA.
I am a very big fan of PES for a long time, and I wonder if PES 2011 is also equal to FIFA ?

Hey :)
Pes has been better than Fifa since the beginning of time. Fifa has been closing the gap between the two games for the past 3 years though. I expect the gap between Fifa and Pes to grow apart again as Pes looks very promising this year.

Pes = Less arcade
Fifa = Arcade

Now that FIFA is the leader.
Online there are a lot of people, while PES is minimal.
PES has always been arcade and FIFA very realistic.
But this year I fear that PES 2011 is a little better than FIFA, and also online.:crymore:

Neither game has been released or even previewed as a demo as yet, so any answer will just be based on opinions.

However, based on Konami's record, I fully expect Fifa 11 to be the game of choice again. This will be the result of PES not being able to solve their number one problem since Next Gen. ONLINE.

I just don't see why online is so important. I mean it is important but games are judged mostly on online. And that sucks. I am not saying this because of pes, because there are other games that someone turned their back on it because of no online or because of something in onine. Single player now is 2nd choice. I hate that.
Now as for the thread. Both games aren't out and both games haven't released demos so I cannot say for sure.

I agree. Even if the online on PES was lag free, and completely fine then it would still be behind Master League, Cups, Champions League and even Become a Legend (and I hate that). I've played over 300 hours on PES 2010, with 190 of those being in Master League. I've played 2 online games. Says it all really.

The only game i've really played hard online is COD 4, only because it was pure gaming heaven. I was still playing it despite owning Modern Warfare 2, it was that good.

For me multiplayer gaming, particularly football games, should be about chilling with your mates on the sofa, whilst being embroiled in an intense 4 team knock out cup, or with another friend against the computer.

Lots of games are rated purely on their multiplayer now it seems, but give me a good 40/50 hour single player story over a good online game any day.

Having said that, it's scandalous the state that PES's online is in and has been for a long time, given today's technology.

For me its like this:

PES: is more technical you really need to know about players and where to play them, tactics really have a big impact, then while on the pitch depending on your difficulty you really need to utilise your players strengths and play much more as a team! while this is still at the heart of PES the gameplay has been lacking and its the technicalities that still keep me loyal and playing!

FIFA: is very arcade, tactics are not generally important and you can pick up and play with out any help! while on the pitch you can do two passes and then score some frankly stupid goals, you also have players nearing retirement like hypia holding the capability of maintaining pace with the likes of torres and messi, its popular online due to its a very easy game to play with hardly any competitiveness at all!!!

thats the way i feel about the two games!

PES has goals which react to how you've caught the ball, where your player's body is in relation to the kick etc and each goal is unique.

FIFA still uses scripts for goal-scoring and even the iPhone PES doesn't do that.

Because fifa will still be the same as fifa 2002, fixed animations, until they fix that, then we can talk

My decision is geared more towards FIFA 2011, because more people online, more techniques, teams, licenses and handling that PES 2010, or I feel when I play that the players are robots .;)

i have seen some footage for PES 11 and I have to say , I am impressed. I have not played a full PES game since version 8 and have switched to FIFA. I agree that some parts of FIFA are getting too scripted but PES is also guilty of being a little too "mechanical".

Looking forward to the reviews this year

^Just my opinion here. DO NOT TAKE NOTICE OF REVIEWS. It's better if you make your judgement by watching the gameplay videos, then play the demo and watch some gameplay videos from the full version. Reviews tend to be biased sometimes. Anyway it's how I see it. :)
BTW I agree that both games have issues and I hope we end up with 2 great football games this year.

As long as PES keeps giving the feeling like you've actually scored a real life goal, it will always be my choice.

I think you may have the games mixed up here Shankly.

PES is the game where you can pass the ball to Messi or CR9 and take on a whole entire field without passing once.....where is the technical skill there?

Fifa on the other hand ..(well FWC2010) is much more technical. Nobody outpaces anyone at blistering speed and angle changes. Is it arcady?...probably...but then again which video game isn't? That is the premise that they are all built on.

Online is where gaming is today. Gone are the days when we all can have our buddies join up at one venue to play video games. It is much easier to invite them for a game online in the confines of our own homes regardless of country or location. Think about that.

With that said. I am predicting that PES 2011 will still have issues with online, which will cripple the series again.

Although many here may disagree..(its a PES forum) Fifa is heading for another massive lead on PES this year. We all are focusing on PES2011 while ignoring the fact that EA is now improving on a solid base with additions to the game based solely on fans request.

Mark my word ...Fifa 11 will be awesome...PES 2011 ...maybe

^Still you didn't get my point about online. I know it's easier but all games have single player and that is part of the game so you cannot pick online as the most important factor to decide a buy.
As for fifa listening to the fans. I hope so, but after fifa 10 (which is still a great game after all) I don't think they are because all the key problems after 09 still exist + the AI made a turn for the worse.
I hope this year we'll have 2 good games.

Sup Shaun7,

Just to let you know, Fifa 10 was not their last game.....FWC 2010 is.

Maybe you should give that a run and see how it compares to Fifa 10.

^ I know the World cup is their latest game BUT I DO NOT COUNT THAT. Why?
Because it isn't part of the series. I mean it doesn't come out every year like the normal fifa does and since this was an argument of pes 11 and fifa 11, we might aswell compare pes 10 to fifa 10 not fifa WC.
I also know that the world cup game is better but, the things I mentioned still counts even for the world cup game.
The AI is still not good, it's still flawed and the same problems still exist, even though it is overall better than fifa 10.
That said, if fifa can make more individuality, MUCH BETTER AI, less predictable and better dribbling (the way it is, is you beat defenders only with pace and strength. NO TECHNIQUE or much less compared to reality), then fifa will easily put down pes forever.
