you tried the holding of the power button, or just the cable?
We've tried everything. Other than a complete reset to factory settings.

I was just playing PES and the screen froze for a second before it reset and the dreaded orange light appeared. Now when I turn it on, the red light flashes.
It's the old 60GB model and it's way out of warranty - is there anything I can do now, or am I completely buggered until I buy a new one?

Well, the PES disc is still in there. Any way of getting any of the other data off of it?
Some game store do check at least the one near me fires.
Our local GAMESTATION does but not GAME which is mental considering they are the same company.
Try this.
Switch off the PS3 from the switch on the back of the PS3
Hold the eject button
Switch the PS3 on from the switch.
May pick up GOW3, any better than 1 & 2? Played those two long time ago.
I can't choose between them. It's slightly shorter than the last two, but the epic scale has been risen. Everything's similar, so if you enjoyed them you'll get kicks from this one too.
