It seems as if the worst is if you were previously online and have a PSN name it becomes associated with so many games regardless of your PS3 name. So once you reset you still have all the old game data you just can't link to it. Once I re-logged on to PSN all those connections were re-made.

I was just playing PES and the screen froze for a second before it reset and the dreaded orange light appeared. Now when I turn it on, the red light flashes.

It's the old 60GB model and it's way out of warranty - is there anything I can do now, or am I completely buggered until I buy a new one?

:( I'm sorry to hear this man. I had this same problem with my old 60gig model and I ended up having to buy a new console.

I tried getting someone to fix it at a nearby shop but they were wanting like £100, and there was a risk of the PS3 breaking down again in a couple of months time, so I just ended up buying a new console altogether.

Took the PS3 apart to get my disc out though. You shouldn't have any trouble getting your PES disc out, pretty easy to take apart, just need a small screwdriver to get the tiny screws out.

Try this.
Switch off the PS3 from the switch on the back of the PS3
Hold the eject button
Switch the PS3 on from the switch.


Mine is also showing signs of the Yellow Light. Earlier, the PS3 Yellow Light-ed on me 5 times before it's able work like normal.

This has got me thinking whether I should cancel my preorder for Battlefield 3: Limited Edition. My brother just bought his new PS3 but he keeps it in his room and he's more of a COD player.

Baddar, if you can prize the disc out take the PS3 to GAME and trade the console in. Unbelievably GAME don't check hardware to see if it functions!

My mate had the YLOD and told me he stolled into GAME and traded it in and in exchange paid £42 for a brand new 160GB Slim PS3 with Deus Ex.

Mental.

My brother replaced the thermal paste and it seems to solve the yellow light when turning it on, except that a few minutes after that, it'll auto shut off once, and it's working fine after that.

I guess I'll have to pick up a new one. Hopefully by December.

That didn't work. Apparently, it's easy enough to open up the system and get it out. Well, that's what someone told me. ¬_¬

I can't choose between them. It's slightly shorter than the last two, but the epic scale has been risen. Everything's similar, so if you enjoyed them you'll get kicks from this one too.
