Cut-back goals....discuss

I was playing online last night and I always play either as Real or England. You can slate me all you want for choosing two great teams but that is not the subject I wanted to discuss. It is the cut-back goal I would like to talk about.

I played about 6 matches last night and every single player I played against (most choosing Brazil or Barcelona) scored every single one of their goals using the cut-back method. For those of you who do not know what a cut-back goal is I will explain. You get as close to the by-line as possible with a quick winger/forward and then you run straight upwards or downwards towards the goal mouth. You then just press pass :x: across goal and 9-times out of 10 you will score.

Now I can score a cut-back as well as any man but I simply refuse to. I would rather hang up my digital boots that score like that. It can't be fulfilling or fun to win games that way, can it? I won maybe 4 of the 6 games I played last night but I was just so annoyed that I couldn't defend that type of goal that I was forced to write this rant!

Please discuss!

yeah that is how i look at it sull a goal is a goal i do not play online but still when i play with mates if they do it they do it, it is your job to stop them from getting down to the by-line to pass it back. :)

Well it does though, doesn't it? Is it fun or rewarding or skillfull to score in that way? Isn't that what playing videogames is all about, having fun, being creative and a dash of escapism? Is winning really that much fun that you would rather win than have fun and play good, decent football? I know I wouldn't.

I just think a goals a goal. I hardly ever do them but thats what I prefer to do. If someone likes scoring with them its fine with me

well i have fun when i play the game as i never do them shots unless it is 90 mins and i need a goal. i do not get to play the game that much so i have fun any time i get to play it. i think it is still fun when people do them to you. i mean if you are not doing them it is you who is going to be getting the good goals and the other peorson that is going to get the boreing goals, so all that in mind i think it is still fun. :)

i played a guy the other night who used barca and the 1st game was laggy as f**k so when i pass back to my keeper and try and pass it to one of my other defenders the keeper turns and walks it into my net.so im pissed of with the lag and tell him so.the game finished something like 6-3.the guy said his connection was fine and we had a bit of a slanging match him saying i was shit and me saying your a lager.anyway we play about 5 or 6 more games and they were very close but he won everyone i think and we were saying c u to each other when he says this to me "sorry about the 1st game my step dad was on the other computer doing some downloading" i was furious.cheating twat and all the goals he scored were cutbacks nothing else.which infuriated me even more.

It is infuriating to say the least when you cannot defend this type of goal due to lag. I was convinced that Konami would have removed this from the game as it was almost a bug in PES5 and it seems to be no different here in PES6. I mean it rarely happens in real life so why is it so prevelant in the game?

I watch a lot of football and I can say that about 10% of all goals are scored in this way because defenders just don't leave strikers on their own in the box waiting for passes! I have even tried man marking all the strikers but my defenders still leave the buggers to stand still and shoot.

I think the best way to defend this is either to try and win the ball running shoulder to shoulder with the attacker or/aswell press square button to make annother defender come over to help you.also sometimes its best to concentrate on not who's go the ball but to where its going to get passed to.crowd that area.whats your thoughts on this mumpleaser.

Something tells me you're one of these cut-back bastards.

I never do it, unless it's a 2v2 game where my teammate attempts it and passes it to me. At which point I usually turn round and dribble back outside the penalty area. It pisses him off, but I don't give a fuck.

Having never played online I can't give much of an opinion but the way I see it, some people are far happier when they win by whatever means, and if this means scoring "cut back" goals the so be it. They are not bothered by scoring fancy goals and are more desperate to win than have a decent encounter with one maybe two cracking goals.

Great move! All rise against the cut-backers! Joking aside, a defender would never leave a striker on his own. I can understand a strong forward pushing a smaller, weaker defender out of the way to score, but they just stand there without a marker.

Allot of goals in real-life are cut backs. It's tactics not cheating.

Think of it this way. People complain about people scoring against them instead of lagg now, eh?

50!

115 and Counting...
As long as it is not the only kind of goal people try to score then I have no problem with it.

Agreed.

I will try and find other methods of scoring but I see a winger in space then I'm not going to refuse passing to him. My tactic isn't to score using cutbacks but a goal is a goal and if I can get one like that then I will. But they are just one of the many methods of scoring, it just so happens that this one is more effective than the others thats why all the brainless 14 year old Barca fan boys constantly use them

I always get to the bye line with my winger but cross it - I love headed goals and volleys. In real football, especially in the British game, the winger would cross the ball more often than dribble in to the box.

Good to hear it! I don't mind a cut-back goal, but the fact that the defenders leave the strikers on their own every time is what annoys me.
