Can't get "playmaking" as DMF, a la Pirlo, nor even "passing" as an SS, like Del Piero? Only wide players can throw long? An SMF can't cover? Positional restriction on the specials doesn't make much sense.

Yes you can, if you play well. Playing well for a team means that they will offer you a new contract at the end of the year. If you play badly, or skip lots of matches you wont be offered a new contract with the team.

As for the captain question, I was made captain for my country in my second game. I was subbed in for the regular captain, and was given the captains armband. As for being the regular captain, if you play well and have a high mentality (80+) the chances are high of becoming captain. Remember though, you need to stay at a team for a while, and put in some blistering performances before you can be considered.

And the special skills are attainable if you have that particular position and play in it. EG; A CMF with SS can learn the forwards specials if he plays in the SS position.

Don't take it wrong tho, i'm just curious, since i haven't gotten far in BAL, just season 2.

Not 100% as I have yet to learn one personally. However, the only restriction I can see is a positional one. And since many players in the game have skills from different area's (such as Messi), it would stand to reason that playing regularly in said position would allow you to learn that particular skill.

If you don't sign with any one it automatically puts you back into the team you were already. I tried this and because there were no good offers and wanted to see what would happen, as a result it put me back into Fulham.

usually in normal matches, it is used for strategy, but in BAL mode, what is the use of this ?

That is used for the managers strategies. You can see what they are by going to check formations > set tactics and it'll show you what the tactics the manager has put e.g Counter Attack or Change Sides.

I made a big mistake skiping matches all the way through the season, Liverpool didn't want to renew my contract, so I waited until the last week (52nd) and the only offer was AC Milan, I couldn't carry on until I took the offer.

Sounds like a nice set up you have there at AC Milan Gaffa! you know you'll be headin back to Anfield if they come in for you again though!
I'm gettin frustrated here in the US- most online pre-orders were dated for the 28th of this month, but now theyre switchin back to the original date of Nov. 11th!! The place i ordered it from is stayin strong to the october date, but im gunna be pissed off if it changes!!
Anyone got to the point where your stats start to go down because you're hitting the retirement/drop down a league stage? I read somewhere you can go til your 38!!?

At the end of the season, if you get a renovation propposal, can you still sign with other teams in that transfer period? Or do you have to wait for the next one?
I'm stopped in BAL until I can straighten that out, since I'm near the end of the season...

i am thoroughly enjoyin this mode, i signed for hull in the first season and have just got onto the subs bench. however, my team keep losing and my debut came in the 70th minute away to liverpool, already 3-0 down.
now this i can live with but now i'm on the bench away to tottenham and they have all the old players there. i know the lineups were out of date but i thought if i put them right in the editor they would be the same in BAL, guess i was wrong.
is this a problem that will be corrected with the update that konami are releasing? i ask this because this great new mode that we have, to me, feels out of date already. anyway, must go, just been subbed on. wish me luck
EDIT: oh i think the tune at halftime on the stadium is from pes 08, nice touch

A.) Yes. There will always be at least one offer from another team.

Does anyone know how the stat agility is determined at the start of the game? I want to have it as high as possible since it is not possible to increase it. My first guy had 89 agility and he was quite a 'built' player at 80kg and 180cm. So I thought perhaps if I made him smaller and lighter, he'd be more agile. However, at the shortest height and lightest weight, the created player only had 74 after the first match. I'll try and see if the number of goals scored in the first match determines this.
