If you double tap the shoot button while doing a controlled shot, the shot is much tighter and paced.

Hope this helps anyone having problems with controlled shots.

Yeah I don't know what konami were thinking...it's not that bad, I got used to it pretty fast, but the 'normal' controlled shot is looks more like a controlled lob
