Just wentthrough 27 straight games on my new PES6 and i must say What a game!!! main point of the thread tho,is my inability to defend when i am facing a counter attacking team or cant seem to stop players like ronaldinho, robinho etc when in full flight. any help would be most appreciated.

dive in and hurt them, ive only layed a few games and managed a 1-1 draw with brazil but i did notice robinho had amazing speed and couldnt tackle him.does the x tackle work anymore caus i found it really different to pes5.

I found that the only way to defend good, is to tackle a lot.
But be warned time your tackles, otherwise you'l foul and fouling tackles are now punished with yellow and red cards...
If you time it good it will help imensly.
Other obvious tip is to try to antecipate plays and position your players acordingly... Even though it's much harder to predict how the AI is going to play out.

hey guys, i'm a little new here...sop no need to listen to what i say.

i havent found defending a problem TBH. just treat it like real life.

basically the main thing you might want to do is to always be goal side of the player slightly ahead of the player. so that your at a sort of 45 degree angle of where the player is (but not too close)
then if the player starts running at you that way you have the most dangerous areas prtoected abit.
while doing this keep your hands on the R2 to zone in on the player (i,e target them) but while you do this DO NOT then suddenly put your hands on R1 to run .....i find that your defenders react slow to the sudden change of pace and the opposing player simply ghosts past you
a much better thing to do would be to tagert the opposition with R2 while using the direction pad or analogue, that way your at a steady pace...dont forget your goal side at a slightly 45 degree angle ahead of the man...
let go of the R2 button while moving in the desired direction and thenpress R1 to start the running
these sequence of events makes the chnage in gears more smooth and since your ahead of the player slightly then they cant really ghost past you that easy

now that for me is just the 1 v 1

at the same time while i have been practicing my aboive method in different levels of variation (i.e anticipate when they want to cut in, when to slide, when to slow down then target again etc,), i have also been practicing on how to manouver my players into position that forces the oppsing team where i want them to go
basically with ronaldindo i would probaly squeeze him in with zambrotta, knowing full well that i have already put 2 or 3 guys in the middle , then bring a supporting forward from behind
that way i defend with confidence against himand i dont care if he beats me, as i know that i have others back ups.

but nowadays i can get the back the ball or force him to release the ball

i would suggest also to practice with manual so that you can shift players accordingly when you want to

i REALLY DO LOVE this game LOL

My advice would be, use the d-pad/analougue and steer clear of sprint like dapluto says. So far i've managed by backing off using the pad, reacting to movement the attacker makes. I've found defender are quicker across the ground with this method than pes 5. But the reaction times to turn and run have slowed, hence making dribbling easier. But, if you manouver your defender and coax the attacker into running across you, 45 degrees (ish) thats when you can sprint. And muscle the ball off the attacker. Again like dapluto said, treat it like real life, don't dive in straight away, that includes using X, back off, waiting for a mistake to be made or a chance to present itself.

okay some more game time and i have only managed to learn how to tackle. Supercancel shgoving dont work anymore for me but sliding tackles are near the best i have seen in a konami game. just take your hand off speed and hit the button whne they come nea\r you,, plus, the rebounds are really really annoying.
