How to Negate the Scripting?

I quit fifa this year because the game will alter your ability just at the time it may result in a goal or stopping a goal (nevermind the cpu increasing ability). Passing suddenly becomes shit when you get into the box even though was fine before that point / through balls slow down - then suddenly pick up speed so it can travel to the keeper to scoop up / keeper and defender clears will magically sail to the dmf over and over like it is on a video loop / my defenders would suddenly not close the gap when I am ahead in goals / Tackle the ball away from the CPU - it magically travels to another player, and even better when they tackle it away from me it becomes a pass to another CPU player. All these items and more made FIFA15 an absolute mess. FIFA programming is nothing near perfect or even passable as a game worth purchasing for $60

I know this is from a few months ago but i have re-visited fifa after playing pes for a week and everything you wrote is so dead on in regards to fifa.

What fifa seems to do constantly is deny you glory.

FIFA is more scripted this year than PES. I have played the same match in career mode just to see and have found that if the CPU is losing, by one goal the first half, they will always score in the 60th minute. Is one of that goals that no matter what you you is gonna be a goal. And it happened several time, at the 60th minute. That is scripted.

Wow! This is the first thread to cross a hundred posts in the "PES 2015 Discussions Thread." Thought I would just mention it here. Cheers

I will address the OT/OP.

Now that I am fully aware of how the scripting works, in a simplified explanation it's as simple as this; some time around halftime if the CPU has 0 shots, look out, if they have 1 shot, look out.

If they have 2 shots you will have a great game. If they have scored once, even better.

So now knowing this, if I find myself dominating the CPU, and don't allow myself to get "scripted" caught out on a CPU counter attack, what I do is when they get the ball I will allow them to attack me and do everything I can to get them in an awkward situation where they will shoot, but the chances of success are low.

The cpu simply shooting and missing seems to keep the scripting at bay.

Also like was posted somewhere in this thread, when the CPU does go into god mode, don't be afraid to tackle/slide tackle/foul to stop the attack.

That really does seem to also quell the scripting.

Knowing how the scripting tends to operate makes observing it sort of fascinating.

I am amazed at just how bad the scripting is on PS3. It comes in many forms

1) Retaliation goals by the CPU will often happen immediately after I score. And there is no hiding it - typically 1 pass off a kickoff, then 24+ yarder on goal. My keeper will always stop these, UNLESS, I have just scored. I never lose 5-0, always 5-4....or 4-3, or 3-2, etc. with that CPU go ahead goal right after I equalize.

2) CPU ability to intercept a lobbed ball is overpowered. Granted, I understand that Konami had to be sure to temper the lobbed balls to keep the game somewhat balanced, but - what they have programmed is for the CPU to run incredibly fast to chase down a lobbed ball so you have no chance (see headers#3). I watch them run faster than the ball travels, often changing their direction to do so. At times it appears as if I am just passing to them with lobbed balls. And emergency clears from my box will auto-sail to the cpu over and over, they don't even have to move for them.

3) CPU Wins in the air. My players will often duck just to allow the CPU to win a header. Most of the time the CPU jumps over my player, then bends head downward to beat my forehead to the ball. Crazy. HERE IS HOW I KNOW THE HEADERS ARE SCRIPTED WINS FOR THE CPU - because I win 90% of the headers in my box following a CPU corner, but lose 90% of them in the midfield or in the attacking third.

I gave up on FIFA for many of these cpu related cheats. I likely am done with PES now.

Every situation is being hard-coded into the game. In lobbed ball situation, when the ball was in the air, the game already calculated and predicted the drop point, then it looked at coordination of your player, and cpu player and then it calculated and changed ball trajectory on the fly so as ball and CPU are able to find each other through an optimized path of the best fits, therefore the running direction change of cpu as if the cpu player and the ball have been magnetized to each other (it does not take into account of momentum of cpu player body when running).

There is always a snap in/ lock-in effect between ball trajectory, bouncing behavior and cpu player position. There must be an algorithm for that. Even when the ball is under your possession and control., there is prediction and calculation for your next stuff-up by interfering with your input accuracy, ball physics and trajectory to sabotage.

When cpu has possession, the formation and position of all of your not-under -controlled teammates always is calculated on the fly to be on a grid of a distance of out of reach of all the cpu players as the ball was passed. The ball always was passed long l before your switched-to-controlled player has a chance to reach him. The cpu attackers therefore get an almost permanent immunity.

They have so many hard-coded calculation situation like that, You always feel that everything is against You in a stubborn way under the "manufactured" probability law created by the developers.

The game does not provide You with a blank canvas of pure simulation of physics and free ball movement and behavior. That 's why it is always frustrated to have a nagging feeling of irrational and weird things in the game that are messing with You.

^ nice stuff princo45

I could imagine a totally free ball could turn into disaster but the well described post you provide shows how frustrating the reverse can be

Yeah very good contributions to the topic. Scripting can feel very annoying, cause it destroys the imagination of an fair battle, which is why fixing in the real football world is so hated. I wanted to add, that the scripting also heavily influences online gameplay. It is frustrating, when you know what your opponent wants to do but cant stop him because the CPU allows him to glide past 2 or 3 players and luckily wins crucial duels. Yesterday i lost i game which i comepletley dominated in terms of possession and big chances, just to concede a cheap deflectet goal in injury time with ballspeed of maybe 10 kmh where my unintrested goalkeeper was just able to put it in his own net. However, i know that this also happens in real football. But i regulary loose games although i dominanted most of the time. And I am aware oft the fact, that there are moments were i have the momentum/scripting on my side, especially against high rated players. But it just doesnt feel satisfiyng loosing AND winning if you know that it depended more of the CPU's will than your own skill.

Sorry for wrong grammar and mistakes, non native speaker. Cheers.

Hi ally this is my first post here, I wish it was not a rant!

I was playing the ML offline mode, having a blast, I play top player level, and I was first place in theItalia second division, I was having some tough games and some easy ones, but overall, I was dominating the league, scoring a lot of goals, and receiving a lot too.

So, as mid season approached, my team suddenly started sucking, every shot hits the post or goes just wide, spaces in the opposing field were gone, defenders seemed to always be in a good position to cut through balls lanes, win every lob etc.

The CPU became God, and they will always score on me on a shot bounced off my post or my goalkeeper, I just know when I'm gonna have one of those games, I'm on a 10 game streak where I've lost 7 and tied 3, I made some nice additions to my team to make it better, and that doesn't work, I restarted, I've tried it all, tactic change, you name it.

There will be games where I have 12 shots in goal, and the CPU has on, and I lose 0-1.

Why God, why? I understand you have to script, I am fine wi making the game tough, but why like this?

Handicap scripting momentum (dynamic difficulty adjustment), is there...just like in FIFA....it sucks!....
Im not buying any other copy of any of this games.
I havent bought a single FIFA since 2013.
I bought PES this year because although I think FIFA is better than PES, I wanted a true, honest game experience between 2 guys sitting there in their living rooms across the world and just playing a game where "the better man wins"...BULLSHIT....This game is as scripted (if not more) as EAs...
Im not buyng any other sports game for...well maybe forever...
Im not addicted like most of gamers are, and I can discriminate whether I want this or not, and act accordingly...Im not throwing any more money away...nor time...
cheers!

i play with barca on superstar setting and i have noticed that after ive been slugging and relentlesly grinding passes and through balls to finally score in the 67th minute away to levante with a hard fought goal i then relax a bit too much at kick off for them to play 2 passes and one through ball out to the right and with some bad timingby mydefence i would concede straight away, but on the other hand if i am fully alert and learn my lesson and not hold r1 and x then switch with l1 that makes the com on superstar sometimes especially when their tales are up play through you easily so if i sit back and quick posistion my players and combine O with the right X then i can win the ball back and then it can set me up to eventually get a killer second but it all to do with how much and quick your closing down cutting off the space in front of the passer and the determined posistion of your back four when intercepting attacks and how you go about combining the two depends on the coms attitude playing it along the back on one twos down the wing or directly through your centre every com situation when attacking you is differant and also depends on the score the ground and say in the chanpions league a team wasnt even attacking as a 0-0 draw would put them through but i managed to ping a munir strike in before halftime and then they went fir the jugular

Hilarious that this is all one sentence

Yes I'm enjoying the game and just like in real life, after scoring a goal the other team usually pushes because you become overconfident with the lead. Encounter that by pulling your defense further back and crowding the ball carrier (don't chase him around). vidmate insta save
